In online retail what comes before SEO but after making the website?

Is there something in between? Lets say you choose a domain name and design the website for the niche products you are selling, you have suppliers etc. Prior to looking for paid SEO advice is there anything in between that you should be doing or is it a case that once your decision is made on what you are retailing and you have access to stock that the next step is SEO and SEM or other?

    SEO after your site is perfect, good content, user experience, navigation etc..etc....

    Afterwards, the SEO company might still be able to optimize your site, check into your keywords, (probably) suggest changes on-site, more keywords for content... KW research (you might not have all the "profitable" keywords covered)...and THEN the actual off-site SEO can start..

    Just send traffic and optimise it so it captures lead and makes sales, you dont need to pay hundreds a month on an SEO expert or spend hours on individual page seo, online ads will send you the traffic you need if you go that route and as long as things are converting then you be find.

    A high trafficked site will feature better in ranking anyway even it it just through traffic sent from ads, do enough research to make sure it is highly targeted and optimise ads for better results.

    You can also leverage platform of mass traffic by publishing content on them that will be easier to rank in search than your own site and then link that back to your site, this will improve your site ranking naturally if you gain traffic through it.
