Linking really does work.

I am putting this up here to demonstrate that with a little hard work, anything is possible. I was linking all around the web (on related sites) to my site. Prior to linking, I was only receiving 7 visits a day, if I was lucky. Now look. I have received my first sale, my first poster on my forum, my first members, a bunch of backlinks (high pr sites), and starting to make a go of it. I hope someone is encouraged that you too can go a long way with a little hard work .

  • Congrats on the success. Is backlinking the bread and butter of your business?
  • Good stuff. May I ask how much the product you're selling is?
  • Congratulations on your success! You are heading in the right direction!
  • Good job. Keep it going.
  • Congrats on the first sale. Build on this sale and keep linking sites / connecting with people.
  • Congratulation, keep ut the good work. Good luck with your fututre products as well.
  • You never forget your first!

Congrats though, linking was never really my 'flavor or ice cream'
    (so to speak) ...

But it's nice to see that it has been working well for you!
  • Congratulations. May I please ask a few questions?
    • What page were you linking to?
    • Were you concentrating on only dofollow links?
    • Did you use any tools or was it entirely manual?

    • Let me first answer the last question. I am selling it for $19.99. Byt I also have a forum section that I want to monetize eventually, and a "resource section", that is a store with my product first in line. I also have a mailing list and a small article DB (but that is going to change soon).

Well I did do some social linking (which is part of a backlinking strategy), on some forums related to it, as well as on forums I frequent, In addition to including it in help topics about my site . I also included it on Pintrest, and on Yahoo groups (yahoo grpups was a big suprise how much PR it has <7>). So while initially I was aiming for just site PR, I got a lot of visitors in return. But Yahoo groups and Wrongplanet were the only two I intentionally promoted on.

As of right now, yes. I have set up a pintrest page, and I am considering a FB site when time permits. I am trying to diversify beyind just one thing.

Two sites mostly (although there were other I did for, those were mostly for PR), Wrongplanet and Yahoo groups. Um, I was mostly just adding links to boost the quality links I had, and those forums came to mind, so I posted on them. The ones that brink the most traffic are dofollow links. Mostly manual.
  • Congratulations vivo, that's the way.
  • Congrats! It's a tremendous success...................
  • Congratulations on your success, now it's time to expand and rake in the cash!
  • Posted on the wrong section of the forum..
  • Actually, it technically could go in either. Part of it is link building, yet it is more about the success aspect. I understand what you mean, but this is more about encouragement, than a how do I... type post.
  • You're showing data for a week. Bit early to be celebrating isn't it?

BTW - what do you really know about "Aspergers"
  • Can you add signature with link on yahoo group ??
  • Congrats to the traffic Sucess, Keep on doing it to get some more traffic

Yes it works, of course, you put up links back to your sites, then some people will click on it, that's for sure..

    BUT..

I still believe that the time spent on building links to your site should be better invested in improving your website by providing better content and a better user experience. When I go to your site from the screenshot mildaspergers.com I'm convinced that you should have kept focused on improving your site in all areas for some more months before wanting to attract people on it.

Traffic is the easy part, you can pay for it, you can build links for free, but the most important is how well your site can convert visitors into whatever you want people to do on your site.

    • Exactly.

Take a look at the return visits.
  • Way to go Vivo!

I love using StatCounter for tracking website traffic.
Now that you've got a taste of success I'm sure you'll find a way for more!

    • There is no doubt that backlinking will help a site rank . Its not the only thing but is still an inportant part . What anyone should avoid is backlinking in large bursts and overdoing it . Its not as easy as it was before to rank by simply creating backlinks , you have to do more of the other seo techniques.

Yes updating content , has become even more of a factor than it was before . So look at it as an allround effort and without focussing on one thing only
  • Congrats on the first sale.
    The first is always special.
  • Looks promising...congrats. Backlinking is not an easy thing to do specially nowadays with all the changes to the algorithm.
  • I have always said it is better to work hard in the beginning and build your business the right way... I also use a lot of linking to my blog to sites like Reddit, Delicious, Stumple Upon, etc. and that also brings in quite some traffic. Patience is the keyword here I guess. Good for your patience I would say!
  • Good work. Doesn't it feel good seeing your hard work pay off? I love working SEO!!
  • Well, to answer the first question, I suffer from it. I have been diagnosed for two years, and have always stood out prior to that too. To answer the question about content, I have been trying to improve with a mailing list, a forum, an article database (that I wil soon add content to) and also a link section. I am offering more than my next competitor wrongplanet.net. they have articles and a forum, along with a dating section. I offer articles, a reaource section, mailing list, and forum. You are right about content though too. To my knowlede, I have a bigger social media footprint than them too. I am also willing to listen to the user with a petiton and ask the admin section of my site. So I do have a USP.
  • I also have a miniguide section on my forum.
  • Of course links work
  • Way to go!
    Enjoy the success
  • Congrats on your first sale, I agree with a couple of other people that you can't just rely on sales from SEO. You should start looking at other ways to get relevant traffic that gives you a high Return on Investment but great work and good luck for the future.
  • I have started posting on Facebook and Pintrest, as well as plastering my link on yahoo groups, among others. So I am not just relying on SEO, I am just saying it has a positive affect on it. But I appreciate the concern.
*Update: I have had my second sale.
  • Good job, keep moving forward man
  • Yeah man! Keep that linking up and the success will only continue. Congrats.

  • Congrats man on your success, Can you share some of your high PR blogs or forums with me if they are related to SEO and online marketing, will be so nice of you , if you do so
