What are the precautions when making a similar website that I own?

To dominate my market, I am thinking of making another site similar to my main site, but a whole new layout, new wordings, etc., but the same prices, FAQs, webhosting, etc.

Would this be okay for Google? What are the things to watch out for, so that I do not get sandboxed by Google?

Host on different servers or buy a different IP for each, but to be honest you're better off focusing on just one site instead of splitting up all that link juice and PR across two sites.

yeah.. Just focus on just one. Whats your aim for?

if you dont want the old one. Then just make another page, just redirect your new one from the old one...

I think your main worry is not from automatic detection... your main worry would be from being ratted out by a competitor. So if someone sees you ranking two sites for the same keyword, and they look at the company name and they are the same, then they might send a nasty-gram to Google about you.

I would suggest to stick with one and work to expand it rather than going for similar one.

But, if you are more keen to make the second, make the changes to the new site in content especially to avoid content duplication. Use different hosting / IP and may be different number of pages etc.

Just take the same theme and same data of your site or blog whatever u are using....Then also dont change the contact information of your site and the hyperlinks should also not be changed!!!
