I will like to know what you guys think about blog commenting for bulding links. I made a post on this forum the last time on ways to build links to your site, among the list i mention blog commenting. I received a comment from a guy saying; "The only viable means to get backlinks this dude have mentioned here is guest blogging".
Although i just made a post in my blog "Using blog commenting for backlinks the right way". I'll love to know what you guys think about using blog comment as one of the methods you use to generate backlinks. Is it worth using some time to comment on other blogs for backlinks?

Why would you spam a link?
Obviously, you think spamming is just great, so...
you probably think spamming blogs is perfect.

    It's not.

    1)All blog comments are spam.
2)If you think your comment is not spam, refer to #1.

Google has devalued blog comments into the dumpster.
Nobody in 2013 should ever tout them as anything great.

I can't even remember the last time I left a link in a blog
comment. I've got so much better linking left to do.

Blog comments add nothing to your pages and just muddle
up anything you have done that may "work" on that page.

I'm guilty. But I must admit, I agree on this.

I know plenty of people that still use blog commenting successfully. If you leave comments of blogs that are in your niche and put thought into the comment instead of copying and pasting a generic one, they add up, and IMO get results. I am currently seeing good results using niche blog commenting as well, so I know that they work when used properly. If you bomb a site with 10k of them over a 5 day period, you probably aren't going to see any improvement, and in fact may set off a red flag with Google.

I depends on where and how you are commenting, You can easily drive traffic to your blog with good quality comments made on related blogs.

Don't know why people are still focusing on SEO as soon as you have spent months getting to #1 then google will change the rules..

Pardon me, but SEO is all about traffic. People only try and get ranked to get the traffic that comes with it.

Blog commenting done responsibly is still a powerful tool in the armory of the optimizer. Anyone who says that all commenting is spam, is just trying to mislead gullible newbies.

Blog commenting is still the best method to create quality backlinks only if you comment on the blogs in your NICHE and not on the blogs which are not even near to your NICHE.

They aren't COMPLETELY useless, but it's pretty pointless 99% of the time unless you find high pagerank dofollow sites relevant to your own with very few external links (as in, under 10), which aren't too easy to find.

Your best bet is to learn about other linking methods if you're looking to gain any rankings whatsoever.
