Why would I want to target "exact match" keywords?

It seems like most of the internet marketing guides out today advise targeting "exact match" keywords while doing keyword research instead of broad match keywords. I understand that the "exact match" keywords are easier to rank for but honestly who searches for something on google using quotes. It doesn't seem like it would be worth my time to try and compete for an "exact match" keyword when I could be spending that time finding a broad match keyword that i can compete for. Am i way off base here? Is there a reason most people advise compete for "exact match" keywords instead of broad matches?

The "exact match" isn't indicated as easier to rank than the "board match". The "exact match" indicates an keyphrase which typed very exactly by searchers. The "board match" keyword is typed is not necessarily exactly 100%.

Broad match provides terribly inflated search number results. Broad Match means that any time any part of the keyword shows up in a search phrase, that data gets added to the reported total searches per month.

        Hi mbowler11,

I am afraid you are "way off base". It has absolutely nothing to do with someone "using quotes" in search.

Instead what they are trying to tell you is that you need to find the search volume for "exact match keyword" data from the AdWords Keyword tool.

The reason for this advise is because it is the only data that represents search volume for a particular keyword. The other data types are for groups of many keywords, not individual keywords, therefore the other match type data do not apply to that type of keyword research.

You cannot compete for a "broad match keyword" except from within an advertising campaign. The "broad match" keyword refers to a group of keywords that will be triggered by ad groups that contain that type of keyword in your ad campaigns. And within an ad campaign, broad match keywords are typically the poorest performing keywords as they are generally low in relevancy as compared to the exact match term.

If you are doing keyword research then you have to research your keywords based on exact match, it would give you around 95% accuracy, good estimation of keyword searches.

First i want to explain you what is exact match and broad searched.
Exact Match: Means if you type "A" then show you only that searches when user type "A"
IF 100 User type only "A" then tools will show you 100.
Now Broad searches: Means user search related to your keywords. Its meas some same wording but not Exact your wording.

If you want to get Idea about only that Keywords searched which you type then you must select "exact match"I hope you understand if yes then press thanks .
