Secret To Creating New Pages for SEO

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there was a specific way to create new pages specifically for SEO.

I'll be using wordpress.

My website is organized like this:
I have a homepage that splits my traffic into 5 different pages. Each of these pages sells a different product and targets different keywords.

I'm going to create numerous new posts to link back to each of the 5 pages.

1)Is this a fruitful undertaking or am I wasting my time? How much of an impact will this have on SEO?

1)Are posts different from pages for SEO purposes on wordpress?

2)How long should each post be in order to make this work

3)Should I link every post back to one of the 5 pages, or should I link the posts to each other, creating a sort of an internal link wheel.

4)Is it a problem that my posts are in the blog directory. Another words, the my website looks like this:

homepage.com
homepage.com/product1
homepage.com/product2
homepage.com/product3
homepage.com/product4
homepage.com/product5
homepage.com/blog

The new pages would all be created from homepage.com/blog. So the new pages would appear like:

homepage.com/blog/newpage1
homepage.com/blog/newpage2

It is it a problem that the new posts are all in this subdirectory instead of in the root folder?

Thanks for the help guys.

I wanted to follow up this question with another one.

Should the name of the categories reflect the keywords I am targeting.

    For example.

I would like all of my posts to link to homepage.com/product1. The keyword for product 1 is keyword 1.

Should I create all of my new posts under the category name "product 1" or will that cannibalize my landing page and will viewers land on my posts instead of homepage.com/product1.

    Thanks again.

It doesnt make that much difference whether you have it just as a root or as a sub directory. Google seems to reward relevant sub directories up to a point, although this appears to be a minor factor

1)Are posts different from pages for SEO purposes on wordpress?

Pages will not be listed on your "blog" whereas posts will. SEO wise, this doesnt mattter as long as you interlink your pages in to your existing website.

2)How long should each post be in order to make this work

There is no set length, focus on users not on search engines. Create the best piece of content you can for the subject. This is good for users and good for conversions also. Sites that just have lots of "SEO content" are not the best user experience and are something Google is actively trying to get rid of.

3)Should I link every post back to one of the 5 pages, or should I link the posts to each other, creating a sort of an internal link wheel.

The best way to interlink is contextually (Wikipedia style). Failing that you can stick the main pages in your navigation menu if they are the main pages you want people to see on your site.

4)Is it a problem that my posts are in the blog directory. Another words, the my website looks like this:

Not really, but /blog/ is a bit redundant. /keyword/ might be better or no subdirectory at all.

    Hope that helps.
