Is there a way to track ad types/genres?

I run Adsense on my website, and I average a Cost per click (CPC) revenue of $0.30 - $0.40. I was surprised when I randomly had a jump in earnings yesterday and I saw that I had a handful of clicks for $1.20. (Yeah, I'm not rolling in the dough, I know.)

I was wondering, is there a way for me to know what ad was run to generate the higher CPC, that way I can target more content around that subject to hopefully get more of those higher CPC ads to run?

  • No there's no way to know which particular ad or advertiser generated a click ..but you can go to Performance Reports. With that few clicks, you'll probably be able to tell whether it was text or rich media ad, or what ad unit it was, or whether it was contextual or interest-based.

    IMO the best you can do is connect your Adsense to Analytics, then you'll know exactly which page/URL generated the higher $$ clicks.

    I can look at my analytics & know which pages/URLs were my best Adsense earners for an entire year/month/week/day.

    • Hey Yukon, That's a great idea. I do have my adsense linked to my analytics account so that's what I'll do.
