Raven announced they will no longer provide SERP tracking starting next year ( thanks to Google )

What alternatives for web-based SERP and SEO tools (for agencies) do you recommend?
#alternatives #deadgood #historygood #raven #serp #tracking

We've been looking around and various places and so far it looks like the place we're ending up at is www.BringShare.com - I've had a number of emails with Justin the CEO, he's sent videos and also a PDF Report that I requested and I've been very happy with both the communication and the layouts of the reports. We're configuring 8 clients in their system currently to see how things look for the future, but it seems to be where we're headed.

I've tried a few other places, even the place where Raven used to get their data from, but BringShare really just brings it all together. These are strictly REPORTING and VIEWING tools and do not provide any of the additional things like keyword research, competition views etc etc that other tools provided. This is not a TOOL, this is a REPORT.

A good alternative SERP ranking tool is the one provided by keywordsearchrankings.com. Their reports are generated fast, the results are highly reliable and the tool even provide some additional data, which is becoming more and more important, especially in local SEO: you can see SERP results as they are shown to users in different geographical locations (countries, cities and even some smaller towns).

Do you believe these tools will work for long or they gonna die like Ravens tools?

The big thing about raven is that they COULD get the data directly from Google if they paid for the access to the API. The issue was that they're using SCRAPE data which is against Google TOS. If instead they'd pay for each query, they'd still be able to do all the keyword ranking that they were doing.

All you really need to do is find a place that's using the Google API to get the keyword data, it'll cost more (as they have to pay Google), but that's really all you need.

There are general tools out there like "rank tracker" from Link-assistant, or SERPs.com, rankwatch.com, micrositemasters.com and even seomoz.com still do rank indexing and performance. It was just nice to have everything inside of one tool (Raven), but once they dropped the rank tracking, and then also dropped the access to SEMRush, it's pretty much something we'll rarely if ever use now Certainly, we'll be dropping our Agency membership ($249/month) and an additional $60/month for extra keywords. That's $309/month that they'll lose just from me. There's sure to be other agency places that will also drop out too. It's definitely a big blow to their bottom line.

Another vote for Rank Tracker here, I wouldn't recommend anything else at this stage.

Had a demo today of SEO Features | Analytics SEO

Really liked it and leaning towards an Agency Pro account.

One function that's really exciting is the lead generation report creator you can plug into site. They go WAY DEEPER in functionality and generating custom reports from filters, etc.

I'm making my decision by the 20th to allow for migration time. (btw - Analytics SEO said they would migrate my historical from Raven if I get an Agency account)

Thanks for the input guys, it's a major decision for a lot of us moving to a new provider or just getting started.

Have you looked at whatsmyserp.com? It's a free SERP checker site that checks the top 300 google results. Results are on-demand, simple button click to check up to 25 keywords, and tracks and graphs the last 30 days as well. You can use the keyword import feature to make the transition from another SERP tool to it.

Just about everything out there is better and cheaper than Market Samurai.

Why? I use it daily. It's found me good keywords and domains that I rank for (one in my sig being a prime example). They have a free option for up to 60 keywords and over and above that are reasonable. Never had an issue with them. Truth be told with some other tools costing $97 a month, even at full price of $149 MS is a deal for what it does. But it can be overwhelming and it does seem that more people are not interested in learning something that takes a bit of time, even with excellent video tutorials.

Unless they totally rebuilt it it was one of the clunkiest slow pieces of software I have ever used. Thats really why it fell out of favor. Go back two years and it was the standard and I still hated it.

    Hey,

    Go for either Serpbuddy.com
    or serpbook.com
Both are good, reliable and much cheaper than other competitors.

Ahrefs.com is also stopping their keywords too. Looks like it's a chance for the competitors to grab some business.

I'm sure glad I decided on Rank Ranger months ago! The price is right, the features give me everything I need - AND their SERP tracker isn't going away. As soon as I heard about Raven I contacted Rank Ranger to find out where they stood on this issue and they told me:

"I am happy to let you know that our SERP Tracker is a core service in Rank Ranger's SEO toolkit and we are not discontinuing that service.

Months ago we foresaw the problem that companies like Raven are currently facing and proactively built our own system independent of the Google AdWords API. Therefore Rank Ranger continues to provide the SERP data that SEO professionals need."

You should check them out http://www.rankranger.com When I signed on they were offering a 30-day free trial (still are) and I let them know that the free package was too small for my needs so they upgraded it to a bigger package - still free for 30 days.

I'm tempted to not post this message to keep competition at bay, but in the interest of fair play...

      Greg

Mike, was it too much clicking about? Not being sarcastic, just curious. I actually like the fact its split into different modules, but that's just how I work. The new rank tracker kicks butt, and sends you automatic pdf reports that actually look good and explain things. It's speeded up as well. If it is the interface, how would you change it?

Haven't used it for some time like I said but it wasn't being divided up that wasthe problem . It was just slow and as I recall a resource hog.

Not anymore. They've really done some optimizing. They also said they were looking at moving away from AIR. To what I don't know.

Well I will give it a try sometime again but hearing the whole thing is built on AIR isn't good. I know Adobe says otherwise but I have yet to find a really robust program that runs well using AIR.
