Hello everyone, I'm building a large website that has a lot of different niches and sub-niches, so getting the site navigation to under 100 links has been difficult. I'm using drop down menu's and if I had to estimate it I would say the end result should yield roughly 150 links via the navigation.

I did some research an found that a site's pr can be diluted or it can effect how Google view's your site. I also read articles where some marketers think it really doesn't matter.

So I remember a site that used to be my biggest competition in the past, and this page Physicians and Surgeons : Occupational Outlook Handbook : U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has 286 links but ranks high for the keyword "physician". It is also a PR 6.

If I am able to make my site without worrying about having to many links on one page that would be great. Any input would be appreciated thank you.

They say yes but if you check bigger sites that rank well they have anything from 150-350 links on there homepage. Use a link checker on one similar site in your niche that ranks to see exactly if it will be a big factor.

That's exactly what I did what the link provided. I also took a look at Shoes, Clothing, and More | Zappos.com and other large sites and decided not to worry about this issue. I want to set the navigation so that the user can find what they looking for right away.

First, you are taking right approach at looking at other bigger sites. Now the question is,how do they advertise,is it SEO,PPC,PPV or social. Most big companies does it all. I always check serps and see how they have optimized their on page seo,if it works for them, why it should not work for me ? Max and exceed

What I have found is that links near the top of the page count a lot more, and footer links count a lot less. In my opinion google starts to max out how many links will have pagerank sent out.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

I just checked one of my sites, I have 205 internal links & 13 external links on a single page (Index page), still ranking just fine in the SERPs. Most of those links have been there for years. There's no rule on counting internal links for SEO, the key is relevancy. Funneling traffic with links is a whole other game.
