Hi guys,

I know theres loads of other equations but theres a couple of PR4 domains i`m interested in, just out of interest if you could buy a domain with 1 PR6 link pointing to it or buy a different domain with 4 PR5 links pointing to it..Which would you choose ??

Thanks James

I would choose the 4 PR5 links because the risk of PR loss is distributed across 4 links instead of 1.

Thats impossible to know without more details though. If the Pr6 link is deep in the site in an old article then you actually may have more risk with the PR5s if for example they are blogroll links. its not just the quantity of links you have to look at but the location of the links (which is actually more important)

besides which the PR alone is incomplete data for link analysis. Whats the outbound links like on those links makes all the difference in the world.

Yep i`ve already thought of that Matt its just how they say that as PR goes it doesn`t just double it compounds you know like a PR2 is like 100 times more powerful than a PR1 ect ect

You've got to bear in mind though - are you buying the domain with all content intact, or are you buying it to put up new content?

If you're keeping existing content, then the links it has now have a good chance of sticking, and you might want to risk the PR6.

If you're adding new content of your own, unless you're confident that it's the same quality/subject matter as the old site, I'd go for the PR5s because you have less chance of losing them all as a result.

Bear in mind, webmasters do go through their outbound links from time to time to check where they're linking to, and if their site is very active then they also have a good chance of a user letting them know a site wasn't what they were expecting.

Yep great advice Karen i do have a good look at the links to get a feel if the webmaster is active or not and where the link is on the page ect

Aside from the worry of losing your PR, which has more juice? Multiple PR5's or a PR6?
