Anyone used PRweb

I want to write an article about where my industry is heading for 2013 and have it as a kind of a Question and answer and submit it in PRweb.com

But I am trying to think can I really write my own article about my own business. I have read and read and read but I cannot figure out how exactly the article is going to look when it gets published. Does the journalist take what I write and change it, do they investigate and publish an entirely different story? How does this service actually work in detail. If someone can post the copy they used and the actually article printed on thew news site I would like to know.

  • PRWeb distributes press releases.

    You can't submit an article. You have to write a press release and submit it.

    I suggest you to learn about press releases a little, before submitting anything.

    And PRWeb is not the best option. You can find better deals in terms of price/distribution size.

    • That is the information I cannot find.

      What does my press release look like how can I write a press release about myself. The examples I see make it worse and more confusing because I cannot tell if the business owner wrote it, or a journalist.

      I have been at it for two days and I am even thinking of just spending the $200 for a test run so I can better get a grasp on the process.

      I think the issue is that my idea of what a press release would look like and contain is different than what I am seeing and that is making me confused.

      Can anyone else add some clarity?

  • Write your indepth 2013 industry predictions and publish it on YOUR own site. Then write the press release promoting that article. Don't give it all away in the press release.
  • hondablaster, retsek is right. Write a great article for your own blog about your predictions.
    Then you write a press release about your new article (it will be a good subject for PR). And then choose where to submit your press release. To learn the correct format (and this is pretty strict in the PR industry) do a search here on WF or on google for "press release format". You should be able to insert a link or two to your article on your blog or website into the release to get back links from the sites that accept and post your press release. But, the format of your release is critical to it being taken seriously. It cannot be an advertisement for you or your site. The press releases are always written in the 3rd person as if a reporter was reporting on your new article or whatever is the topic of the release.

    • I agree with second poster, PRweb is not for article submission, and they're guidelines are very strict. If you're looking for an article site that has 100k subscribers, pm me.

  • Try a press release service and see how they write it. Then you can get an idea. I've used the one below and they are great.

    • We've been using PR Web for two years now, and we're pretty much satisfied with the service and the results. We mostly submit news on software updates and our marketing campaigns, here's an example of a PR we had today: Link-Assistant.Com Announces Christmas Sale, Sums Up 2012 Results.

      Less than a month ago, the service ran into an issue of publishing a fake Google acquisition story: read a relevant SEL article.

      This article revealed other issues related to the service, including publishing "news" about viagra and such.

      Since then, PRWeb have gone an extra mile in improving their editorial procedures and restricting the types of content they accept.

      New editorial guidelines are strict indeed (yet pretty common-sense). Also, PRWeb now requires an authorization from top executives of companies mentioned in the news releases.

      However, again, PRWeb is a great PR distribution service, and they're working hard to make it nearly impossible for people to abuse it.

  • In my industry I follow a few keywords to see news out there on Google Alerts. My specific company comes up often on Google Alerts from PRWeb.

  • PRWeb does have strict guidelines. I just wrote a press release last week for my company. Some of the important points:

    - Do not write it from your company's point of view. Write it as if you're an unaffiliated journalist.
    - The press release must contain something newsworthy like a new product, launch of something, charity work, etc.
    - Whatever it is, it must have some basis in time. "Every item half off!" is not it. "For the Holiday season" is.
    - People can spot advertising a mile away, so don't use fluff words like "amazing" "the best" etc. You want to seem impartial and credible.

    I think those are the basics.

    • Most press release distribution services will have a very strict Editorial Guidelines. Especially if they have your news distributed to wire services.

      Press Release at MarketersMedia.com has the same strict guidelines. The prices are a lot lower. PRWeb distributes to AssociatedPress as the major newswire backbone, MarketersMedia.com is using the same backbone, distributing to AssociatedPress as well. MarketersMedia.com has it's own partnership with AssociatedPress.

      News from MM is also searchable in online archives like Factiva, LexisNexis, Comtext to name a few. This means you are getting into the Media's game. Almost 80% of Fortune 500 companies are using Factiva as their source of information. Many journalists have these media clipping services to break stories.

      Using Press Release as a means of SEO is a great idea, I am preaching this idea too and have few products on this. However, I do know that the effect can be shortlived. However, if your Press Release is written well enough to pitch a story coverage, you are definitely going to kill it.

  • For one of my earlier business, I used press release services by prattack.com. I was happy with the result. I must say they did a good job. I havent tried prweb, but it does seem the most popular of the lot. If you are looking for a sample of press release and tutorials on writing one, Google is the best place. There are some great sites explaining in detail. But if you are running a business, I think its best to let a professional do it for you.

  • PRWeb is for press release distribution. You should come up with some news worthy announcement related to your company or at least your niche to get approved on it.

    I have had a great success using it for my websites but it doesn't come cheap but since I am not investing any money in backlinks and only do press releases then it's ok to distribute at least one press release each month.

    Haven't seen a massive impact to the ranking right after press release distribution but most of my websites are PR4-5 so I guess this link building approach is working well in some way.
