Redirected domain quality?

I found a domain(domain1) from my niche with a lot of quality backlinks from magazines, wikipedia, dmoz listed etc. Most of this quality backlinks are linked to the homepage, and few to the inner pages.

So, I'm talking about a registered domain, actually a nice site with a lot of articles. But the homepage(only) is redirected to another one(domain2) that is free to register. All the other links from inner pages are not redirected.

I don't know a lot of things about redirection stuff. My questions is, if I will register domain2 will I have the link juice from the domain1?

Is this worth in your opinion ?

PS: When I put domain1 in opensiteexplorer it automatically redirect to the domain2 with this statistics:

#search engine optimization #domain #quality #redirected
  • If you're going to redirect 1 domain to another redirect the WHOLE site using a .htaccess command.

It will look like pure spam if you have only the homepage redirected and the other pages still lying active but not linked to from the root domain.

The pagerank should be passed (there will be delay and some loss). But don't try and turn this into a scalabe strategy i.e. redirecting many domains to your new target domain.

    • Thank you for your answer.

I don't own the first domain so it wasn't me who redirected that domain. I just want to register the second domain, the one that the first domain redirects to.

  • If you mean all other content is on a free site, then of course they
would not be redirected. I don't understand that statement:

All the other links from inner pages are not redirected.

If those links went to the domain, they would be redirected.

Nothing wrong with redirections. Google uses them for blogspot.
    They will redirect your domain.

Many big sites use a redirect from their domain to another page.
    very common.

If it auto redirects in your checking, my guess is the domain is
being redirected by the host. A domain that redirects via a 301
should not act that way. That is, domain1 is undeveloped and does
not live online. Adsense for domains works this way. Most redirects
via your host are done free.
