The first important thing is to use targeted Title, tags and description. Since the search engines can't "read" your video they will rely on your Title, description and tags to determine the contents and how to rank it...

Although, that might seem like common sense - many folks forget this step or don't do it correctly.

After you have the correct title, description and tags just use some social bookmarking to get some backlinks, you can check Fiverr for that.

Keep creating backlinks on the youtube page.
Guest Posting: Find some good blogs that allow guest posting if your video is realated to that blog submit it there with an interesting article.
Social Marketing: Videos often get viral so just spread your videos on facebook twitter, and as much social sites as you can.
Also, optimize your description of that video by adding relevant words in which you want to rank to.

Make sure you have the right keywords in title and description
Make Sure You Share it across social media
Make sure you you submit it to press release and article marketing sites.

Make sure the video title contains your keyword, the same with the
description and tags and build quality links to the video url and the
channel url.

*** 1 Huge thing to remember- create a video that will MAKE viewers watch longer. A big part of how YouTube ranks videos is based on the amount of time each person views your video. This is important for 2 main reasons:

1. Videos with a higher percentage of completion are most likely providing the viewer with the information (or entertainment) that they are looking for - thus they deserve higher rankings than spammy , unrelated and low quality videos.

2. This is always an obvious answer - Money. The more time that people spend looking at videos on YouTube, the more money YouTube will ultimately make.

Obviously we always want to create quality content - whether it be website/blog content, articles/press releases or videos. But things are moving quickly these days and it can be hard to hold the attention of busy and impatient people, even with quality information and content.

Soooo....I try to give people and incentive to watch the entire video until the end. This can be anything from a "#1 Secret" or "Amazing Proof" to something "Free"...combine incentives with a carefully 'constructed' video and you will see better results all the way around.

You need to have a good title. Make it longer then 5 words.

Also, take a look at those videos that are similar in topic to yours and see what they are doing to get some ideas but never copy anyone.

Whilst everyone is covering the obvious (title/descrip)....

The biggest factor is piling on favs/likes/comments and some views.

I have thousands of rankings for my vids and my vids get thousands of hits daily.

The number 1 factor (in my opinion) for getting the vids ranked is favs/likes/comments

While this may see unrelated I've noticed Youtube, DailyMotion, Vimeo and Metacafe "duke it out" over which video gets to the frontpage. It's almost a guaranteed recipe for your Youtube video to go to page 1. It's almost like social proof for videos.

I have hundreds of videos using this method and it's working quite well. Same title, description, everything.

That's interesting and I'll need to test it. I use all 3 sites but tended to change titles and descriptions a bit.
