I'm creating my wordpress blog.I create it mainly for SEO, but I also want to see a good conversion. If my users see my newest posts when they visit my main url, it will be obvious that the conversion will be lower.I want to create one default post or page and set it up in front of all posts. This post will be shown every time people are entering my main domain.Of course this post will be optimized for my main keywords.

My questions are:

Is this a good idea? Will Google love this?

How many posts should I use on my first page? Will it be a good idea to show only my first one?I plan to update my blog frequently and if I put only one post that will not be changed will I see benefits from the updating, if the updates are not on my domain?

How can I do that? What is the option is wordpress? Is this one
Settings- Reading - A static page (select below) ?Or Posts - Add new - Visibility - Stick this post to the front page ... or anything else? Please let me know.
