If I go onto a PR8 Website, and get my link on an inner page with a PR of 0, is that backlink effectively worthless?

Unless my link is on the ACTUAL homepage that is PR8 then it's not a high PR backlink, right or wrong?

The backlink is still useful. The PR flows on to the inner page.

your link is not worthless becoz a high pr site cached many time compare to low pr and google cached and check that your link is added on a good website don't always don't show that what is pr on this page but only a unique content is king of a site.

You would still get the effect since the domain has this huge PR. It is not at all worthless.

    Hi inxie,

No, not necessarily worthless, but probably not worth nearly as much as some people posting on this thread have implied.

Websites do not have PR, PageRank is not assigned to websites, it is assigned to individual web pages. What a backlink is worth has absolutely nothing to do with the PR of the homepage of the website where it is posted, and everything to do with the attributes of the page where the backlink gets placed.

    Correct!

The homepage PR has no bearing on an internal pages's PR value unless the homepage directly links to the internal page. PR is passed through links, and not through any other method.

Having said that, The homepage of most websites will directly link to some, or many, internal pages. Some of the PR will pass through to those internal pages that are directly linked. However, the important thing to note is that those internal pages have their own assigned PR value, based on inbound links to that particular page. So, a link from those internal pages may have some PR, just not the same PR as the homepage, and it is the PR of the page that your link is on that matters, not the homepage PR.
