Duplicate content and seo question

Lets say im trying to just rank for keywords for my main domain page, but there are duplicate contents on my other pages. will it affect the seo on my main page?

in my situation, im using the main page for local keywords such as newyorkdentist.com, and using only the main page for important keywords. However, i need PLR content so people could stay on my website for better opt-in rate. So the question is, does duplicate content on my other pages affect the SEO on my main page?

  • I normally refrain from putting duplicate content anywhere in my website as it can reduce the overall quality in google'e eye.

  • If you spend your efforts to build your website then why you are putting duplicate content on it? And why users will stay there if the content is not unique? You shouldn't put duplicate content anywhere on your webpages, as all your webpages belong to your domain, i.e. main domain page...

    I would strive to make the content on each page of your site unique. Websites typically aren’t penalized for duplicate content like they are for other SEO no-no’s. The trouble with duplicate content is that a search engine does not know which page to index or if it already has a similar page in it’s index, it may ignore the page it finds with the same content on it, indirectly penalizing your website.

  • It will probably damage your ranking having duplicate content on your site.
    Make sure all your articles are unique, useful and interesting to your readers is the way to go.

  • I would say if you do proper SEO for your homepage, it will help you get rankings, but Google might eventually penalize your site, for having Duplicate content. Because the inner pages are connected to your homepage.

  • Hmm.. Because of duplicate content your site's ranking will always suffer. Google wont be able to recognize which page is having most relevancy. And you ranking will fluctuate every day.
