Help! How to rank a game/aracade website

If it were me I would look at it the same way, but I would also look to do some solid marketing - Whats great about the site? Why should people visit? Can you offer some sort of promotion or give away? As well, I'd visit forums, and groups that are relevant to the niche... Just my 2 cents...

The best way to rank a site is first to start with you on page optimization. After you have that all done then focus on high pr links and then backlink the backlinks.

Gaming niche needs to employ different techniques than regular SEO. Here are a few tips,

Since it is a gaming niche, social media sites (facebook etc) can do a lot of good things if you do it correctly. Also hang around related forums and promote it there too.

I considered creating an arcade site before, didnt do it, but you do have one thing on your side, an easy source of high quality content IE flash games.

Here is what i would do:

1) Start adding games like crazy. Write unique descriptions, couple hundred words for each maybe.
2) Add those star rating things so you get a rating thing as a rich snippet.
3) Verify with authorship (Always helps).
4) Keep doing 1, until you have hundreds of pages. The traffic should start to trickle in.
5) Put like buttons, tweet buttons, +1 buttons everywhere in good positions. Get lots of likes.
6) Make sure your site is actually decent, high page views, time on site etc.
7) Build a **** tonne of links. Im not going to spell out my complete link building strategy. But you will need like tools, blog networks (more risky), buy PR domains at auction, Buy high PR links from sites that link to your competitors, buy blog posts, reviews, do press releases etc. Do all that jazz.
8) Blow up, get tonnes of traffic, repeat.

This will all rely on your ability to hustle though. If you are happy adding content all day and hustling to build links, you could bootstrap this and go from $0-few hundred profit a month.
