After seeing all the different methods and potential 'risks' this seems like the best way to go to me-

This is a natural method,
And, assuming you hire people who speak good English, you could have people naturally market your site in this way and link build as a result.

Seems like the best/cleanest method to me, particularly if you get links with high link juice/pr

What do you guys think?

    Hi...

Yes, this has been an effective way to create quality backlinks for the past couple of years. As long as you are commenting on relevant blogs and adding quality in those comments, you can backlinks that will last for years.

Most people fail with blog commenting because they are either blatantly spamming the blog, or providing no value. Even if a comment like "Great post" gets manually approved by the blog owner (and chances are it won't), what's to motivate readers who see that comment to want to follow the link back to your site or blog.

Making your comment informative, even controversial, will skyrocket the amount of people clicking on your link.

But again, this is IF the comment gets approved in the first place. Which is never guaranteed.

Some suggestions that I would recommend:

    - once you find a highly visited, relevant blog, visit it often and try to be the first one or two to comment on any new posts. People tend to read those more often.

    - make your comments longer. Again, people tend to read these more often than shorter comments with no value provided.

    - once your comment is approved and published, be sure to social bookmark it for additional backlinks and traffic

    - once your comment is approved, consider adding the post on your Facebook page and encouraging your friends/fans to visit it

    - once your comment is approved, be sure to send the link out to your Twitter followers

The average IMers has minimal success with blog commenting because they aren't willing to go the extra mile. Blog commenting can be very effective, not only with helping with SEO, but also in generating targeted traffic. But if you are going to incorporate it into your marketing arsenal, be sure to but in the additional efforts in order to maximize its benefits.

    Much Success,

    JoeMack

I agree JoeMack. Most people always go for auto approved blogs. The blogs are often have hundreds of comments that make them look spammy.

JoeMack is right! I agree with him. The comments should look natural. But nowadays the problem is that many webmasters prefer to pay for a software (like ScrapeBox)... But... This software will NOT help your website. It will just place your website in a blog where everything is spammed to death!!!

Scrapebox can be used for a ton of different things. But, you're right, most use it to blindly blast thousands of comments out to random blogs. Big, big mistake.

    Hi,
Personally, I think that there is no such thing as good or bad methods.
All methods were good at one point or other (and worked for someone), otherwise they would not worthy of the phrase "SEO method".
The real statement should be "this particular 'method' is risky considering the latest 'Google' updates which are:..."
Like other people here say, niche targeted guest blogging is big now, and to the best of my knowledge, it's a good, safe way to link your site to other sites within your niche (like the one's offerd by site's like "Guest blogging empire" with high quality content. you can also get quality link juice/pr from a well written and distributed press release article.

Guest blogging is quite good for relevant blogs and sites. This build authority and if you can also "claim" Google Authorship for those posts then all the better.

Remeber that it isn't all about links these days. Social presence and authorship is something you should be looking into and applying to your online business.

I personally dont waste time with "blog comments" anymore, seriously, NO.

As for guest blogging, "basically" yes, but be very careful where you post. LOTS of crap sites shooting up recently and a lot of "guest blogging abuse", Google is very well aware of that. I would not want to post on sites that offer guest blogging that already turned into sort of "article directories" with TONS of outbound links and TONS of guest bloggers.

In fact, I would guest blog only on sites where they do guest blogging basically under the radar and dont advertise it to any random Joe out there. Quality over quantity.

Very much agree with this - IMO lower quality links do still work you just need to be a little wiser on how you use them to your advantage and lowering your risk ratio

As for guest blogging I agree there is a TON of people jumping on the bandwagon who will end up making a bad name for the method. I mean there is a ton of people using tools like MyBlogGuest etc. But to us those tools although a good idea to begin with are just starting to be a type of "guest splog network" - Everyone has access to the sites with no effort and they post quite a bit with the quality levels not being very high. Hence the best way to guest post is by building useful content and relationships with site owners. The matter of the fact is, great blogs and sites have no reason to use platforms like MBG to find guest bloggers as they attract a natural following. The best thing to do is search for opportunities on Google and other engines and approach each blog and build up a relationship, yes it takes longer, but it is worth is in the long run.

Guest Blogging is a nice way to get some rankings and increase the authority of your website. Blog Commenting has now-a-days become a spot of spamming and it could harm your website, unknowingly.

Guest blogging is a great way to get high quality back-links, but it doesn't mean that we fully concentrate upon guest blogging. I like to guest blog only for the blogs who don't have tons of guest posts and tons of writer for them. As there are tons of blogs that are blogs but actually they are acting as article directories, and now the Google is well aware of this fact. So, I mostly concentrate upon on-site SEO. I mostly concentrate upon content of my website/blog, and then concentrate upon social media websites and only a few high quality blogs.

I find that even the relative blogs to my niche tend to be saturated with so many spam comments that just say "Great Post." Good ones are hard to find especially with comments that bring value to the community.

My experience is the complete opposite. Most blogs these days are moderated (good thing) and reject these types of comments.

I actually wrote a really thorough article about blog commenting for traffic and authority. Basically, your conclusions are accurate. It's still a relevant promotional tactic and should be, at the very least, considered when promoting a new site. Definitely check out the article if you're in for a good read though.
