Hello,

Iam gonna use some 'Directory Submission' software...

a) Could you please tell me, is it advisable to use software to submit my sites into directories? If YES, can u suggest me any good directory submitter software? (i do not have money, so not going for outsourcing)

b) Do I need to submit only into high PR FREE directories? or I can submit into pr0 sites too?

c) If I just Submit into FREE directories gives us result, right? since submitting into PAID directories are TOO costly...

Please suggest me..

Thanks!

Don't waste your time - the links are just about worthless.

If you want to be in a directory - make sure it's a relevant one for your business and that it gets good traffic. This usually means paid entry as most of the free ones are now just link spam farms from people blasting them with tools and the search engines won't give you any value for them.

No. It's extremely inadvisable. If Google suspects you've done that, your site will probably be heavily penalized, as has happened to so many others here, who have explained how/why this happened to them, in the SEO folder, which is where this thread also belongs: Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum

You would just be wasting your time. The "backlinks" from article directories are worthless and your site will not benefit from them.

The search function is a great tool in this situation, as there have been a ton of threads on this same topic.

I don't know (and neither does anyone else, with certainty: these things are unpredictable!).

What matters, though, is that those backlinks will have no value to your site anyway! You'd need hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of them, to give you the same linkjuice as one backlink from a quality, relevant site. Backlink value is about quality and relevance, not "numbers of backlinks". There are hundreds of threads here, discussing/explaining/illustrating this in detail.

Actually Iam not looking for backlinks, instead iam guessing that I would get some traffic through directories itself!

Iam having my own some service websites, so if i drop them in directories, people may visit those directories and I might get some little traffic..

          Thats what Iam thinking..

So, Still Iam wrong?? (Just to confirm )

You will be VERY lucky to get direct traffic from a directory submission. What person finds a directory link from a search?

So basically, I could build say 2000 low quality directory links to my competitors site and effectively get him knocked off the front page because of them?

Clearly! Google has openly acknowledged this problem, and that's why they introduced their new Link Disavowal Tool, last October, as a response to the problem their Penguin update caused with regard to "negative SEO": Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: A new tool to disavow links

Don't bother purchasing a software. Just spend an hour submitting to 10-20 directories and you're pretty much done. If you are going to use a software or outsource this, do not submit beyond 100 directories as you can be flagged for spamming!

You can submit to low PR 0 as well, and yes you can just submit to purely free directories.

In fact Google is already cracking down on paid directories, featured listings, and forced reciprocal linking. You should NOT pay for ANY directory listing.

Submit only to high quality web directories. Sometimes paid one is necessary. But it worth the money.

I would personally submit to only relevant or decent quality directories. I see a bunch of people saying NO NO NO, but they are okay for very new sites. I would just submit them to a few. Even if you submit your site to 100, the approvals usually take forever. In fact, many of them will never approve so I don't see the immense harm factor in trying to get a few links.

Yep! Iam too thinking in the same way.. Even I do not go with unrelated directories, instead i just submit into my related directories..

I guess people are saying NO NO , it seems they used to submit like hell and all unrelated backlinks tooo.. in mycase, i just do few submits (say 30) ervyday and anyhow aprroval from each directory will be differnt. i guess i can go even 50 in a single shot (ofcourse i do other kinda backlinks as well)

I just said my opinion.. i just give a try and will see what google can do me..

Just blasting your websites in such directories is completely USELESS! This is something like you sell an apple to people, that don't like apples (just an example!)

The better strategy would be to choose ONLY relevant directories (some of them might me paid directories) and then submit your website, but don't forget to use DIFFERENT title and description in EACH directory, so each backlink would be really worth!

Do this, but only with a few directories and then continue following your SEO strategy!

I've checked that site. Haven't used any submitter software before, and I don't know if the 5000 article directories it states are auto or manual approve. Problem with softwares is you may not be able to choose the most suitable category to list your site in, and some directories have a slightly different way of categorizing.

Anyway, it also takes a while to get indexed by Google even if they are all auto-approved, so yes you can try the software if you really want to (of cuz, don't submit to 5000 at one go!) You can limit to say, 30 a day which I hope it does allow. Spread 5000 out over at least a year if budget allows.

    I'd prefer going manual though.

Since you mentioned that you also build other kinds of backlinks too, I'd highly recommend that you focus more on building forum signature backlinks after you're done with your test. 30 forum posts signature backlinks in your niche is definitely going to get more direct traffic than 30 directory links, that I'm very sure! You even build your reputation at the same time!

Your directory strategy sounds fine. Just don't overdo it. Good luck!
