SEO effects on domain extension .mobi

Need some quick clarification on the subject regarding the use of .mobi domain extension.

Backstory: A site I've been planning for a couple months now literally has no universal domain extensions available other than .mobi. Ive searched everywhere and I'm getting conflicting answers about .mobi extension on SEO.

The site I'm trying to rank uses a longtail keyword in its domain and im wondering if Google will index this extension just as well as it would index .com / net / org. I know all the universally used domain extensions work equally well - im just a bit skeptical when it comes to .mobi.

Any clarification will be nice. Hopefully I get a response from someone who has ranked a .mobi themselves. Thanks!

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

.mobi is for sites viewed on mobile phones. That's it. They
should have special coding for mobile devices.

Since google knows where or what a searcher is using for the most
part, a .mobi is not going to show up in search from something that
      is not a mobile device.

In most cases, from what I've seen, google gives the regular site
listing in the mobile searches anyway, but your phone may automatically
take you to the mobile site if your dot com (or whatever) is set
up that way. IMHO, this is because google does not want to
confuse searchers switching from mobile to regular and seeing
      strange results.

One thing about .mobi is, yes, you will need to do 2
sites. No, it's not duplicate content, so don't worry.

But the BIG thing about .mobi, is that its time has passed.

My samsung has a fully functional webbrowser. No need for
      a mobi site.

I have apps to take care of the rest, which the rest of the
      free world does as well.

Apps and smarter smartphones have made .mobi a thing
      of the past.

This does not mean, however, that you should not have
a mobile optimized site to mirror your regular site. A mirror
site, set up for mobile, will not need a separate extension.
Just do s subdomain like mobile.domain.com. Big sites
now seem to be doing m.domain.com

Buying a .mobi domain for a regular website is crazy. I can
only assume you thought .mobi was just like any other extension.
      It's not.

Think outside the box. There are many, many ways of getting
a cool domain. Keywords don't matter. After all, you are on
      the warriorforum, right?
