I currently am using adsense and make about $20 - $30 a day with 170,000+ page views per day.

Is adsense the best CPM network?

I think that a CPM network would be better money.

Does anyone know of any that are good?

Adsense is the best. Stick with it
I will suggest you to try to increase CTR instead of looking for other networks

170k page views/day and only $20-$30...? Damn, you're missing out on a potentially massive chunk of cash.

    Place your ads better.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

For adsense, that would greatly depend on your niche. One of my sites does almost twice your earnings; but with 1/10 the traffic. So, again, depends on the niche for adsense.

I strongly suggest you test multiple ad networks at the same time - including adsense. Check out BurstMedia, ValueClick Media, and Tribal Fusion.

The key to winning the CPM banner ad game is the inventory fill rate... at a cpm that you're comfortable with.

Even at a paltry $.50 CPM, 170K pageviews would earn you $85 per day.

But you have to have your inventory fill rates *full* for lack of a better term.

One way to do this is via Ad servers such as OpenX or even "Ad Yielders" like the Rubicon Project.

Another way is to use and Ad Network's "Default" settings so that your ad fill will "default" to another network if the current one doesn't meet "X" criteria.

Simple enough once you figure everything out

    Also check out:
    Pubmatic
    Admeld
    YieldEx

    Hope this helps.

Most of the CPM ad networks I found require a single site upon registration.
Can I use multiple sites? Because the 170,000 page views comes from 500+ sites.

I think you need to add some keywords with better CTR in your website content and may be you need to change your ad placement too, this will surely increase your earnings.and its better to stick with adense as there is nothing better then that.

Right, however all of these sites are forums. Forums don't receive many clicks. I have a CTR of .169%

That's why I was wondering if a CPM ad network would be better.

The revenue you receive is quite low comparing the voulme you're receiving. I'd suggest you to try to split test different ad places and ad copies so you'll might improve your profit.

Also you can try CPA / Affiliate Marketing it would generate you much more profit!

My favorite is BuySellAds, though it's not a traditional CPM network and I don't think they'll buy ad spaces from everyone or give you their ads to show in your web unless you have a high authority website. But their rates are much higher than those described above.

I must say that you are not earning much from the traffic you have got. Like other members said, it depends on the niche. I would suggest you to try out some other networks which you can test. Different network might help you in finding best of the available here. I recommend - edomz and infolinks. edomz is less popular but has proven to be best for many (that includes me). Infolinks is popular for it's in text ads.

Casale Media is also a good CPM Advertising Network which pays you a lot. They share 70% of their Ad revenue with Publishers. However, the main disadvantage which has been noticed by me is, you can't get its approval until and unless your blog/website doesn't have huge traffic like TribalFusion. It means, this CPM Advertising Network is not for New Bloggers.

Are these quality page views? If you have crap traffic, it doesn't matter what network you are using.

Where are your ads placed on the page?

I get less than 10,000 visitors a day and make MULTIPLE TIMES what you are making. All of my traffic is high quality, though.

1,574,810 unique visitors and counting. And that's just one of my websites.

dewayne is correct, its all about your niche and the traffic quality. Adsense is not a cpm network completely, it has CPC and CPA as well so it really depends on the type of ads you are serving and how your visitors are reacting.

I would be curious to know the placements and quantity of ads as well. If you are getting 170k plus pageviews and you have 3 ad placements, then you are actually serving close to 500k ad impressions meaning your ecpm is roughly $0.04 and $0.06 which is pretty low (estimation based on $20 to $30 / 500).
