Do my internet IP address matters in linkbuilding?

Hi,

I wanna know if my internet IP address matters in linkbuilding to my website. I am thinking of creating blogs on free blogging platforms(blogger, wordpress etc) and post articles there with links back to my main website. So I am wondering if Google has any mechanism to detect if all the blogs are being created from a same IP address?

Will really appreciate help from everyone?

Google is not a god. It is just a smart bot. You should be more worried about your IP being banned from those web 2.0 sites. If you create 1 blog on each site, you are fine. But when you start creating multiple blogs on the same web 2.0, then there might be a problem.

      Thanks a lot. Good point

Btw, will it (links from free blogs) be helpful in improving search engine rankings? Do I need to have unique content on these blogs or articles from ezine will do the job?

It will not help you a lot because most of the blogs will have no PR, authority, are made with a brand new account etc..etc... it can help "a little" for diversifying links, but the times are gone where you could make a few web2.0/blogger sites and rank highly.

Regardless, if you just copy/paste ezine articles even worse...i am afraid that making some new web2.0 blogs from copied/pasted articles will not do ANYTHING for your SEO, it would be a big waste of time, IMO.

All you need to diverse your IP for is wordpress comments that are powered by Akismet.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

I think you are mixed up on IP, as well as a few things.

I do commend the effort on creating your own places to link from,
    but IP is a non-issue.

My advice is to create different genre blogs. Don't do them all the
same. You can do articles on a variety of subjects then, all
your own content, and link up with 6 degrees of separation.
Fully develop the blogs, keep updating.

Don't just make one page here, one page there. Complete waste
    of time.

You need to do some research on how IP's are assigned and used,
however. Knowing basic things like that only adds to your knowledge.

Creating blogs on multiple blogging platforms from the same IP address is not an issue at all. Nor should it have any impact on SEO. If you're just building one-off blogs on these platforms then I don't think you have anything to worry about. It's when you're doing massive link building campaigns that having different IP addresses comes into play so that you do not get blocked by the services you are submitting to.
