Hi there.

I currently have a website ranked #1 for my desired keyword. I want to make a mobile version of the site that is much simpler with less content.

How can I do this without affecting the ranking?

thanks

By hiring iphone developers or mobile site developers.

There are also a couple of plugins available to make a website mobile friendly. There is no need to develop a separate website for mobile phones.

Since the content will be minimal you could create a sub-domain, example: hxxp://m.domain.com

If you wasn't already ranking for your keywords you could use a responsive theme for WP or a responsive framework that automatically scales the page layout to the mobile screen res., desktop traffic would see the regular page layout. This way you keep the old URL for all traffic.

  • You should create it by using sub-domain or directory/folder. just like http://m.examplesite.com or http://examplesite.com/mobile. My personal recommendation is to use sub-domains as they are more suitable.

Okay yeah, that's exactly what I'm doing. I wasn't sure if it would negatively affect the ranking despite being a sub domain.

      thanks
