I have an amazon review site with over 100-150 preoduct reviews on it, it is impossible for me to start targeting all the keywords on the site. My question is this:

If am building backlinks only to the home page of the site will it positively affect the rankings of some of my keywords?

Should I be building links to my homepage or please drop your suggestions. Thanks in advance

If you are building link only for the homepage, it will still positively affect your rankings for the "review" articles, since your domain authority is growing and it's also passing the juice to your articles.. However, it is wise to build few links to review articles as well so it would look more natural to Google...

online only is dead on. It would be unnatural if your inner pages had tons of links to them while your home page had few. Your inner pages will benefit from the links to your home page presuming that you have structured your site in such a way as to pass that link juice optimally.

Links from your home page will get the most juice transferred from your home page. So how are you linking to your review pages? With that many you can't link to them all from your home page. So are you using categories? And then maybe link to those categories from your home page? And then from the category pages to the individual reviews?

You can (and should) also build links to those inner pages but just don't go overboard. Most links naturally flow to the home page.

If we're talking 2011/12 SEO then a split of 60/40 between deep and home links is recommended.

In today's environment I say whatever is most natural, for an informational site with a lot of content you would expect the link balance to go deep. However for an ecommerce shop you might expect the balance to go to the homepage.

I bought a high PR for one of my keywords....(not the home page), but that backlink was so strong that it ranked everything else lol.

I have sites that have better external links pointing at my internal pages, I still rank both pages (Index page/s & internal page/s). A page is a page, you rank whichever page floats your boat.
