As a hobby I like to create a really nice cool blog on a subject that I'm passionate about..

I just want one site, and make it awesome... I will write my own original content and don't try to fool google in any way..

What would be the basic steps to be 100% safe not to get hit by google in any negative way?

Get the google SEO guide and follow it 100% exact?

What are your opinions?

Love

If there was a "fail proof way", then Google, along with other search engines would be out of business. Google's job is to make sure their search results are not "constant" and yet deliver relevant results, which is why they have all these algo updates, to prevent "fail proof methods".

Sooner or later... you will drop. ...

I agree - nothing's fail proof in SEO - complete contradiction. Learn, adapt and improvise is the only thing you can do.

If you don't want to do anything to potentially tick Google off, build a great website, write awesome content and be happy with your daily visit count of 1 (yourself).

Write for the people who's going to read your blog, know your audience.

Try to build a community on your site by engaging your readers.

Build a relationship with other bloggers of the same niche. (Don't be afraid to have a link exchange with them just don't over do it.)

    Use proper tags, categories.

Write for your audience and not for search engines.

Do it because you want to have a good/great site not because you want to rank for some keyword nonsense.
