I would say contextual links are the best, such as blogs, articles, web 2.0.

Most tactics still work, the thing that killed off sites is over optimization, or in other words, when you've spammed the same anchor text at your site over and over again. What you need to do is vary your anchor text, and try to build contextual links.

All of these answers are best case scenario. Does anyone just write quality content and "wait for the natural links to come?" Really, does anyone do that? Yes, wouldn't it be wonderful if they were all high PR and in the same exact niche as your own? Like I said, that's all great advice in theory. If anyone ever wrote a WSO about how to make links just "naturally" come to your blog after you write quality content and it actually worked just like that it would be the biggest seller in the history of this forum!

I think we should apply web 2.0. Before posting your article on web 2.0 site, you should write articles with high and unique quality content. You can also use forum posting and blog commenting for link building strategy.

A simple way is to syndicate your content to article directories like ezine, goarticles and web 2.0 blogs like wordpress, blogger, squidoo etc. Then bookmark them. Obviously put a link back to your site on these sites.

But really the best way is to create content people actually want to share which will naturally create links.
