Can free blog sites get penalties?

Can the free blog sites such as tumblr, wordpress, blogspot, webs etc get a penalty from Google? Let me be a little more clear with this quetion. There are free authority type blog websites which are highly regarded in the web industry. On these sites we are able to create create our own blog for free with some pages or jut even single pages such as exampleblog.tumblr.com and exampleblog.wordpress.com. These sites are basically part of the wordpress and tumblr domain extension which means they are highly authoritive. So if a page on one of these blogs had thousands of spam links pointed to it, do Google penalise this single page part of one of the biggest authority blog networks?

    Nope... The page can get penalized, but not the entire blog network. More or less if any site found such a spam on their subdomain, they themselves might remove that page.

    Google will remove your blogger blog if you spam it too much or promote content against it's terms. Happens every day.

    Your blogs on web 2.0 properties may gets deleted by the respective moderators or get de-indexed on Google if you go against the rules. Otherwise, I don't see any problem with them

    Yes, these websites gets ranked in Google. Recently i used to create a login in blogspot website and within 2 weeks it gets ranking in Google it was amazing.

    No Google don't penalize them but Google loves free blog sites such as tumblr, wordpress, blogspot, webs... So stay free and keep going with real things...
