hello guys. about three months ago, i did a huge seo mistake.. i bought for my website a footer link from a pr7 domain. (think it was fake, but not sure of this)
in two months, my website received in google wmt about 200.000 backlinks from that domain. this i think affected little to more my serps.
so in december (one month ago) i removed that link from the domain. in google wmt only two updates was made in terms of removing (one removed 3000 and one 4000 backlinks) so now i have around 194.000 backlinks from that domain.
what do you advice me to recover quickly from that mistake? can i do anything else instead of waiting wmt to remove that backlinks? and how much time take to remove them? (i know that google remove a backlink when crawlers visit that page)

One footer link from a single site, site wide or not, is not going to affect your rankings, unless your link profile is made up of a bunch of those kinds of links, then you will have a problem.

Use Google Disavow Link Tool (search on Google) to discount those links.

Stick to building natural backlinks mass. I guess that is all that can be done here while the footer links are not deleted.

I have only one footer link. I don't have a link profile with this. I have a link profile based on contextual backlinks.

Google's disavow tool helps us tell Google that it should not count low quality links while assessing our website.

GWMT is lazy...Once you remove footer link G will not see anymore. I have sites that i remove links from footer from years and WMT still say that i have tones of links from.

Use ahrefs.com to see exactly how many links still are indexed.

Yes but Google WMT doesn't shows the backlinks that are in eye of Google?
In Ahrefs i lost about 30000 backlinks, now i have 35,000 backlinks on Ahrefs and about 20000 from that footer link.

Is posible to still see the links that are in cache because we talking about a huge site with tones of indexed pages and this take time, google usualy don't re-cralw pages that are not update.

Nothing about this, just keep add quality and unique content to your site and make linkbuilding related to your niche.

All that backlinks will disappear in time!
