does a .US domain name rank better in USA?

Hi,
I want to buy a new domain name for a website intended to a USA audience but I wonder if I should buy a domain name with .US extension for a better ranking in USA or it doesn't matter. Will this rank on the first page of google in USA : mykeyword.us Thnx

    Domain extension will help a little if you are targeting specific region. .us or .com both can be used to target USA. In Webmaster Tools choose USA as the targeted region.

    Note that domain extension is a minor ranking factor. To rank high there are other factors to worry about.

    I've been told time and time again, and watched a few seminars, where they claim the domain extension just doesn't matter.

    Well... I've always noticed it to be more difficult to get anything other than a .com to the front page. This might all be in my head but it just feels that way.

    .us would be great idea to rank in google. Also it would help your site to get some nice authority as well.
