AMR - Still any use?

Since the Penguin update was rolled out last April, is AMR of any use? Shortly after Penguin many people said AMR is no good anymore and even responsible for people's sites getting penalized in the penguin update.

However, on the official AMR forum I noticed that there was a 2.0 update released in October.

I only want to rank relatively low competition keywords so im wondering if it's any good for this purpose.

  • its not that any seo tools are useless after these updates, its just that people dont learn how to use them, or why they are doing what they are doing,
if your aim is to blast a website with ultra low quality links, using rubbish content, badly spun, or just copied, then yeah - you are asking to be shot

but if you think a bit more about what you do, build a quality content, around your link, tier your links, and dont just run down the entire list in a software in 1 go, then you would have a much better use for it! - software will save you time, but it wont remove the work entirely, unless you like living with the pandas and the penguins

  • I would recommend to concentrate efforts on malual link building
  • I thinks it's still useful as long as you aren't blast 1000 link per day, but slowly step by step 20 links per day for seems manual link building.
  • Personally I would concentrate on building better quality manual backlinks. I've never used any automated link building, it'll only come back to haunt you.
  • Quality over quantity usually prevails.
  • Use AMR and get Doomed!!(Just a slogan I created)
Actually manually submitting articles to a few quality sites is very good. AMR contains a lot of low quality sites, mostly link farms.
  • I seriously prefer human works over tools like AMR. Even if these tools can automate processes and save plenty of time, you seriously have to understand the risks involved whereas humanly possible works is hardly at risk. If you do have the amount you can invest, you could easily hire cheap workers and they'll get your work done better.

This is simply an opinion from your fellow Internet Marketer.
  • I use Magic Submitter, and only do the article directories on my 2nd or 3rd tier. Blogs (especially wordpress) are first tier always. And I write and spin my own stuff so it's high quality. That's key. It also comes down to how you schedule your link building, something that Magic has, that AMR doesn't. I did however use AMR at one point. But with all the updates Magic has received in terms of the Google updates, it's not necessary.

    • Is there a problem that Magic Submitters article directories could get saturated like AMR's have or do they add new ones regularly so that can't occur?
  • One possible use of AMR could be distributing content on your network of Wordpress sites, but then again, there are better tools for that as well.

As far as SEO goes, you're way better off with creating high quality backlinks by hand, with unique content and relevancy in mind.
  • No, MS is updated several times a month with new ones being added, old being dropped.
  • It's great for your tier 2 sites. Don't use it on money sites. No haven't used it for awhile, but can't you only choose the high pr sites? I'd trust those a lot more.

    • Yes, it does have an option to select a minimum PR of sites.
  • Cooler, I leave for a couple months, come back and your talking about AMR, shame on you. AMR gave one of my old sites the unnatural links noticed back in 2011, it's 2013 now, so yea I think it's safe to say AMR is out dated, along with social bookmarks, magic submitter and rest of that crappy software no matter hw well you know how to use it. And that comes from experience, not speculation.

    • AMR negatively affected my sites also in Penguin, but when I used it I didn't vary the anchor texts much and didn't select to submit only to AD's of a higher PR so that is why I wanted clarification on whether AMR is no longer of any use.

I don't think people would be paying a monthly subscription fee for tools like Magic Submitter if they were crappy software and no longer delivered results.
  • Right, Magic Submitter is out of date. That's why I'm still able to rank and hold rank. It's in how you use the tool. In this case, comparing MS to AMR is apples to oranges.
  • Try to submit the articles manually in high PR directories in stead of using any automated tools like AMR.
