What is the best way for me as a rookie

Hello warriors,as you can see from the title i'm going to ask you some questions with hope you are going to give me clear answers,i've started 2 weeks ago with a blogger and wrote some articles about Quit weed tips ,yesterday was my first day building backlinks but im very pessimistic,i don't think this is the right niche,on the other side i have tried to find forums and blogs in relation with my niche to comment and get backlinks but there aren't enough i guess(or maybe there are a lot of them but im just going through the wrong way finding them:confused

I've read ebooks about SEO but every one of them left a lot questions in my head,except the one from google"Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide".
It might sound stupid question but i really need your suggestions what is the best for me as a rookie to get on the right path,should i keep going with that blog?,any suggestion would be helpful for me.
