Keyword Competition

Hello,

I have long tail pro and pick out keywords with at least 2-3 pages on the top of google with no PR and low back links, I do come across some with PR 2-4 but with no backlinks just a high authority domain, can these be beating with back links?

How would you choose yours?

You need to do back links first. Remember not quantity, quality links required even though you have high authority domain.

If the page is something like an Amazon product page, they are generally easy to outrank.

  Agreed. Any time I see Amazon product pages, Walmart, Best Buy, etc, it's usually an indication that Google doesn't have much else to show. So some good content can usually outrank them.

Yes, those are exactly the types of keywords you can successfully target. High authority domains will rank accidentally for many keywords. But focused SEO can often move your site right past them.
