I admit that I gave up on chasing the latest SEO trick but can someone explain to me what just happened.

This is my analytics report from my website from Jan 2012 to Oct 2012.

SUDDEN Drop in Google Search Results Last April 26, 2012

Btw, the site is 7 years old by now.

What's the on-page SEO look like, is it spammy, keyword stuffed?

  It was spammy for a very long time. But then I fixed it for more than a month now and my search ranking is way down there.
  
  Any suggestions? Am I being impatient?

Well that was right around the time that Penguin hit. So keyword stuffing as Yukon suggested might be the culprit. Maybe being in a link network? But the timing definitely suggests Penguin.
