Diversification of anchor text

Hi Warrior Members.

According to the Penguin Update what is the best Anchor Text distribution Ratio? I have noticed that as I build links with main keywords only my website disappear from Google. I 'm much worried about that please suggest me how to get back to its previous position?

It was on 2nd page but now seen no where

  • It's all about a "natural" distribution of anchor text. Some people will spout percentages like 10% keyword, 20% related word, 43.2% generic like "click here", with some URLs in the mix (www.yoursite.com).

    Take a look at sites in your niche (perhaps bigger sites) and take a look at their anchor text distribution using a tool like ahrefs or majesticseo. See what they are doing and do something similar.

    Right now, if you've been only using your keyword for anchor text, I'd simply stop doing that and start using random keywords like click here, website, find out more, etc. Do that for awhile and see what happens.

      I'd say the same. Dont over optimise your things, or it will raise a red flag.
  • i'm not using more than 20% of my main keyword as anchor text...might take more time to rank your site but much more safe for the long run
  • As LloydMS there is no set ratio that you need to target in order to optimise the anchor text. Just use the appropriate anchor text according to the context of the link. Over time this will give you a natural variation.

    Also you can vary the URL, by sometimes including the "www" or / at the end and sometimes not. This is more natural than every single URL being in the exact same format.

    • It wont boost ur keyword directly but makes ur backlink looks natural and give u some page rank, which mean u need more backlink to boost ur keywords while still makes it looks natural in google eyes
    • Just to be clear, my use of 43.2% was a backhanded way of saying that those people who tout these exact percentage really have no clue. I'm sure there's some optimal range and as long as you stay within it you're just fine.

      And as previously said, the reason you use generic anchor text, url variations, keyword synonyms, etc. is that it's natural. If you just use your keywords, or even keyword plus variations of your keyword, it isn't natural and you'll very likely get a penalty. So if you want to build 10 links to your site with your keyword, there is a certain number of links using other anchor text that you should build to keep those links looking natural.
  • There is actual ratio. You have to use diversification smartly. Use you original anchor text. You can use naked Url's. Also you can put the text click here, or buy now(for Ecommerce site), etc.
  • in my experience, go with about 33-40 percent generic anchor text variation. Pls dont go with exact numbers as to No one knows exactly as to what are the exact percentage numbers.
  • Don't go after Ratio, try to be natural and not making anchor text for your keyword only.
  • I really don't think there is a ratio. Even that ratio exists Google wouldn't reveal it out as far as it may be its business secret. But usually what I do is, I used to get links using various anchor text links including main keywords, secondary keywords, domain, Click here, Visit, Check out and etc. I usually spread 50% links to main keywords (2-3) and 50% to secondary keywords and other texts. Say, if I get 100 links this week, 50 to main keywords and 50 for secondary keywords and other texts...
