Using Rich Snippets In Google

Maybe someone can help me out with this but I've been trying to use rich snippets. For some reason I keep getting this message when testing my links in Google's rich snippet testing tool:

Warning: This information will not appear as a rich snippet in search results, because it is contained in a hidden HTML element. Except in special circumstances, Google won't display content that is not visible to the user. You should mark up the text that actually appears to your users when they visit your web pages.

So I've looked online, tried removing certain plugins, read Google's FAQ on this matter and I'm lost. I'm not intentionally trying hide my HTML so I'm completely clueless. Any advice or help would be great. Thanks

  • All you have to do is make sure the snippet you're using is visible to users on your website

For instance if you're doing the authorship markup make sure the part that says "Follow Name On Google+" is visible to those on your website
  • Oh ok awesome, thanks. It was pretty simple.

  • Ok, I've figured out the basics of rich snippets but now I'm trying to figure out how create an event rich snippet. I continue to get the same message:

Warning: This information will not appear as a rich snippet in search results, because it is contained in a hidden HTML element. Except in special circumstances, Google won't display content that is not visible to the user. You should mark up the text that actually appears to your users when they visit your web pages.

I've added the event and the address to my webpage but still nothing. Is there something I'm missing?

    • You may want to just use SEOPressor to carry out the Rich Snippet settings. You will also have to display/publish the structured data on the page otherwise Google will not be showing them.
