Hello all - i'm just starting out in PPC - wondering if it'll be OK to start off hosting Prosper202 on this super cheap GoDaddy hosting.....would the 'economy' package be OK? (I know if number of clicks gets high i'll need to get VPS or dedicated - but just to get started and get to grips with Prosper).

I have already contacted them to check that it meets the requirements for Prosper - and it does.
PHP 5.0 or greater
MySQL 4.0 or greater
The mod_rewrite Apache module

here's the link..... Web Hosting | Cloud Based Hosting & Unlimited Bandwidth - Go Daddy

Looks fine to me, never really used godaddy for hosting. Been with hostgator for over 5 years now, always very helpful.

You wont beat hostgator customer support.

Ok thanks for the reply - can I just ask..... do I need to check if cPanel is included with hosting for Prosper202 - from what I can tell cPanel is a requirement for installing Prosper - is that correct?

No it's not. But it makes installation easier.

I run Prosper on an inexpensive host (asmallorange.com) and it's been completely fine.

That said, I'd avoid GoDaddy like the plague. There are plenty of affordable hosts that are a LOT better.

I've run Prosper202 on Hostgators cheapest plan without issues in the past, however I have heard of some people having problems with it before.

The best way to figure out if it will work for you is to simply try it out.

Normally it all has to do with loading times of the site and the resources. with shared hosting I would honestly go with a smaller company since they have fewer sites

Anywho, from my experience, years ago when I decided to be all in, I decided that paying $40/month (vps) for a real online business its really cheap. At the end of the day either its $10 or $40 its the same.

    My lesson?
    • Never be cut costs on hosting
    • Never cut costs on tracking
1 seconds faster loading times can improve conversion rates by 7%, and over a course of a year it ads up.

I use right now a good starting point for this I recommend to my friends is:

    1. Beyond hosting
    2. CPV lab

    Thanks

There are other cheaper options out there other than godaddy. I try to stay away from them as much as possible. Plus did you see there ad in the super bowl yesterday? That was enough to make me never want to use there service lol.

Cheap, shared hosting is fine when just starting at PPC. If you get to the point where you are running multiple campaigns and getting a lot of traffic, then you should look into getting a VPS.

As others have said, I would stay away from GoDaddy hosting.
