PR-7 Directory....I Should Know Better. Just Skip It?

I realize most inner pages have no PR value, but is it worth to submit my legitimate website? SEOMOZ provided a list of seemingly-legitimate links and this was one of them.

I DO NOT want to take any chance on Google considering this a "bad" link.

Poof! The link is gone!

If the subpages have no PR at all, then most likely it's fake PR7. Uhm... Yeah it's fake. Just skip it

It's definitely not fake at all.

Directories like this look at the page where my link will appear to decide if it is worthwhile or not. If that page has good PR and not tons of links, I'll take it any day of the week.

If you do feel this directory is worthwhile, I would remove the link from the original post. Too many spammers around here that will quickly ruin any worthwhile directory. The more people that use it, the less powerful your links will be.

Is it true? If it is so then the directories links are not powerful at all. Even dmoz have got innumerable number of links in their site.

You need to start putting yourself in Foogle's shoes, and you'll find the answer is very obvious 99% of the time. I'm going to guess that if you were the Foogle spider, and you came across a directory such as what you're talking about, you wouldn't consider it worth the bandwidth just used to access it. I'm just saying, the algo is getting to a point where the logic you apply to a website, back link, etc, is not too far from the logic the algo is applying.

In my experience, I have only ever seen a rankings impact from links in the Yahoo Directory.

DMOZ and BOTW had no impact for me but may have for others. The business.com directory is one other talked about as legit.

Here's Matt Cutts on Directory Links (believe what you will from him though):

The subpages should have at least PR3 and PR4, otherwise it is a fake PR. And by the way, there are NO PR7 directories that are WORTH the try and the time to submit your website to!

I have seen many directories where inner pages have no PR. This doesn't mean the directory has fake PR. Also what Mike said is true, the lesser the people know about the directory, the lesser will be the spamming and your link would get the maximum benefit.

I doubt google will consider it a bad link. After all google cannot always make a good judgement about a directory. And they would usually rather let you get away with a bad link than punish you for having a "questionable" link.
