I have a WP site that has been indexed by Google but shows only in Google Blog searches and not Google Web searches.

Why is that? Am I doing something wrong?

  • Are you doing a keyword phrase search, a site: search etc. If you're doing a keyword phrase search your site might not rank in the top 100 / 1000 results but may qualify under the blog search.

  • as said above, you probably just aren't ranking on the site search yet. Do some SEO and you'll see the changes in no time.

  • I think a moments patience is needed as the others have mentioned. The other thing is that Google does have this "personalized search" or whatever they call it. Have you tried looking at Google from other places (internet cafes, libraries, your friend's homes) because it is quite likely that you will get a different result!

    What other measures are you using to verify the proper working of your site apart from Google search results?

    • I've been using Rank Tracker which is part of the SEO Powersuite Tools to check my rankings for different keywords, and this is where I noticed that my pages were being ranked in Google Blog searches but not Google Web.

      I will wait a while and see what happens.
