Is there not one single 100% reliable Rank tracking tool out there

I tried several:

- RankTracker, gives personalized results

- SerpBook, very unreliable in many cases

- SerpFox, I thought I found gold but in sporadic cases it's VERY wrong, for example a client comes to me asking if I can rank his site, I check his current rankings and back link profile and see he has quite a few links but ranks at #438. So I tell him I think you have some sort of penalty as you should rank higher with such low competitive keyword. He answers me that he's ranking at #12 instead of #438. I start to check manually in Google incognito and indeed he shows up at #14 for me (server location depended of course).

- SEOmoz, accurate I think but extremily time consuming to work with when having many clients / sites to track, and updates the results slowly.

What have you found to be the most reliable one, please one that I not listed here.
#100% #rank #reliable #single #tool #tracking

    Hey nik0,

Try this aswell: Google SERPS Search Result Position Tool

Not sure how accurate it is, but it should be pretty good...

Not too many will get it right all the time. I've test just about every single one out there. SERPFox is perhaps the best of the lot, but SERPMetrics with their API is very, very good too. The pricing is great as well!

I'm using a combination of Position.ly (for their reporting functionality, mainly, but they are fairly accurate too) and our own tool for some of the bigger clients.

We have an internal rank tracking tool, and it's a very challenging job to build one that's even close to accurate. People use proxies, etc. to get better results. I've done a lot of work on the number of queries, trying to get some sort of a pattern before I can confidently display a particular ranking but it isn't easy. A lot of server resources, too, if you are querying thousands of keywords *multiple* times a day, just to update the results once a day. Some of the results you see at times are very strange.

That said, SERPFox is generally very reliable. The UI is very good, too.

Don't comment much anymore (pointless to) but just had to here

Serpbook is a complete joke and they have no idea what they are doing or how to fix their programming. In multiple emails to them they have insisted that each WAY OFF BY A HUNDRED MILES bad ranking report must be fixed individually and is an isolated problem. Sorry I don't want to have to double check each result to see if its accurate (defeats the whole purpose) and their "isolated" bad reports come back within a few days indicating they are FAR from isolated.

Yep I second that, they suck just as much as sescout did before they just couldnt be arsed anymore and everyone lost their historical data.

RankTracker has consistently provided me the best experience/results and you control the data. However it sucked arse until I started using it with decent proxies, previously I was using it with SquidProxies (allegedly dedicated) and I had no end of trouble.

      • Have you ever thought that the reason the results may appeared flawed is simply because you are checking from a different data center than the one they use?

I have noticed that on MANY occasions two people searching on different computers get VERY different results.

Maybe displaying different results in different locations is a way for google to split test click through rates? (Im not talking about local results, just results in general).

Search results now are all over the place.

Serpfox has seemed like the most reliable option for a long time but im also hearing good things about accuranktracker.

        Cheers

I use hidemyass.com to manually check once a week. Otherwise traffic is the best metric to go by.

If you know what you're doing you should be ranking for hundreds of long tails...too many to track.

I have heard about Magic Rank Tracker. By the creator of Magic Submitter which is a pretty cool software if you know what your doing with it.

I think I will get Magic Rank Tracker and get a review going soon.. I have SEOmoz and tried SEO Spyglass which is pretty cool but there are downfalls to both, most commonly the cost.

Be sure to do your research before you buy anything! Good luck!

    Try rankcheckerace.com

The problem with rank trackers is that Google doesn't always display the same Serps across different ips.

About Serpfox, yes it is one of the most reliable serp checkers but still they show flawed results now and then, okay it's maybe 1 out of 100 times but if I push clients away by saying that their site is probably penalized then it's costing me money.

Any one tried AdvancedWebRanking? SEObook is recommending it and I saw it on top of the list at searchengineland as well in some blog post that they wrote.

Thanks for the other suggestions, will test them!

I like Advanced Web Ranking. Been using it for about two years. I use both it and Rank Tracker from SEO PowerSuite. I use AWR from time to time to make sure Rank Tracker is giving accurate results. The thing I am not real fond of in AWR is its reporting. I like the reports better in Rank Tracker.

Other than that though, AWR is a great desktop app.

Just entered the details of the flawed results to Rank Checker Ace and SERP Checker , turns out that rankcheckerace also says not in top 100, and whatsmyserp gives the accurate result, as it shows the keyword at #18, the client says #12, manually check says #14, so #18 is close enough.

What I don't like about whatsmyserp are the limitations in keywords as I have 100+ domains to track and the cap of 25 keywords per domain is also a bit disturbing so if the creators read this. Do something about it

A few months ago, we did bump it from 8 domains and 20 keywords per domain to 10 domains and 25 keywords per domain. We would love to do unlimited for our users, but it is a free site and we do have to pay for the private proxies we use while staying under google's radar with them.

If you'd like to bring your own proxies, we could engineer it so all your requests go through your proxies which we could then allow unlimited. The other option is for us to offer a paid option. Not sure how much interest we would get from that, but we couldn't do it with just 1-2 paying users.

No those tools show it around #430 all the time for 3-4 days in a row, and the other tool and manual search keeps showing it between #14 and #18

Thanks MikeF, did you buy proxy's for RankTracker?

I have proxies that I bought for other things. I'll occasionally throw them into RankTracker, but like with SpyGlass, they seem to really slow things down.

    You're missing an important - and little-known - fact:

It's NOT the rank-cheker's fault that Google is using multiple data centers (thousands of 'em) to DISTRIBUTE its rank allocations - basing on a whole lot of factors, and all coming down to Trust Rank.

You can test this easily by running Google Search through a proxy. Change proxies each time you run it. Search in the Eastern US, for example, and you'll rank #1 on the given keyword. Then go to Canada somewhere - you're #6. Change to Europe or Australia, etc - and you'll be ranked differently again.

ADDITIONALLY, run your (manual) rank check a few times during the day. You'll be extremely lucky not to encounter at least one instance where your rank goes up or down!

That's "Google Dance" - which is NOT a result of bad programming, but rather DESIGN feature or Google's Trust Rank. I learned that from the inimitable SEOlater.

But - as your trust rank grows - your rank stability will improve, including its geographical stability.

    Hope it helps!

CuteRank is ok, but its reports absolutely suck. They look almost embarrassing to give to a client.

For checking your own rankings, it is fine. If you have to give reports to clients, CuteRank is amateur hour.

  • No any 100% correct tools in seo. So the better way we can check manually for 100 pages only with one click..use seoquake tools though this we can know the number of all pages from 1 to 100 pages no need to count from 1 to 100. Just see the rank for any keywords as you want..just put in google and the results for 100. Pages within seconds ...while hitting ...Thanks!!!!!

I have clients coming to me saying they rank #3 when they actually rank much lower... 90% of the time they are signed into google and their results are being personalized. I agree, hidemyass is great or make sure they are signed out of google.

Another option is georanker, you can personalize where you are searching from (or where your client's target market is searching from). Other than that I have not had any issues with seo moz or raven depending on wether or not incorporating local results into the ranking. I'm looking into seo power suites's keyword tracker, seems to be promising.

serpranktracker.com is new on the scene but it comes with better features than serpfox and serpscout.

Very accurate tracking of keyword rankings (up to the top 500 positions), direct commenting on chart, integrated todo lists etc.

I moved from serpfox to this service for these features. Fast easy to use interface too, I can manage a few hundred keywords painlessly.

And the price is the best I've seen too. Sometimes the most popular is not always the best I'm surprised not many people talk about this yet.

I can only agree that serpbook.com is very inaccurate. An outsourcing company that I have been using for some projects is using them, and at some stage I contacted my outsourcing provider saying I didn't see any ranking improvements in the serpbook.com public link they gave me.
Turns out, checking manually or even with any other rank tracking tool, there was big improvement in the rankings, serpbook.com was just very inaccurate or not updating at all.

Probably not for long or without limitations cause once a free rank tracker is discovered, every IM and his dog load's 1000s of keywords onto it bogging down the servers.

Just wanted to update this thread actually with my own input and maybe if any new tool has come into play in the past year maybe someone can post their input about it.

Im using serpbook over a year now, I do agree at times the ranking can be off... It updates many times throughout the day.

I think cuterank is probably the next best choice since its a one time fee and you can track as many keywords as you want but I havent used it too long to give solid feedback on the accuracy... And as someone else mentioned the reports do look kind of amateur... that is the only downside.

Cuterank is rubbish software... for 1 profile maybe 2 its ok, if you have more than that, prepare for UPDATE FAILED error messages... its disgraceful, im going to ask for a refund. Even with settings for inbetween keyword search at their maximum it does not work.

The graphs are nice and i really like the fact that it allows you to put notes for your ranking efforts. Reports are disgraceful as another user said... im off to look for something else.

You can't get single one correct serp just because it doesn't exists.
In case of online position checkers you can't control ip's from which they are scrapping.
With desktop software you can control that.
There are lots of programs that can track positions: ezeeranktracker, bottopia rank-tracker, cuterank, serpparser, scrapebox, linkassistant rank tracker, serpyq.
Each of them could be useful, some of them have free/trial versions, but some are cost some money. Select which one you like more and use it.
