Its very important. Meta tags,Meta name,Meta Author ,Title these are very important thing of a website as far as organic traffic is concerned. Make sure your title and tags are not duplicate try run a tag analyzer to analyze your tag and get better result.

Forget about meta keywords. Virtually no search engines use them any more.

Meta description is very important for your CTR. You should think of it as your call to action.

Note, that Google may ignore your meta description if it thinks it can provide a more relevant summary.

Not sure what your question about sub-domains is.

    Hi,

I'd say yes. Meta description and key words are still good practice to use, and I always do. Various differing opinions on how useful/relevant they are for SEO/positioning considerations these days though for me, still relevant.

If you mean can you add meta stuff to sub-domains, then yes. You can add to any page you wish and make them different for each page if you want to make meta tags page-specific.

    Best,

    Andy.
