Is it bad to put a link to my site on my wordpress.com blog?
- SEO |
I just started a blog on Wordpress.com for shits and giggles. It won't be focused content, just random things. Maybe a post about an adventure my dog and I went on, a post about some new goodies/toys I picked up, a post about some art projects I'm working on, things going on in the world and etc etc. The blog doesn't even have a single post yet. I literally just signed up.
Anyway, I was wondering if it's alright to put a link back to one of my money making sites in the sidebar or if it would be bad practice since its a site-wide link and none of the content will be related to the content on my other site. Basically, I was thinking of putting something like "My Favorite Sites" and throwing in maybe one or two of my own sites in a list of 5-6 sites total. I wouldn't list my site or any of the others sites with specific keywords but rather just their brand names, or even unmasked URL's if that's better and looks more natural.
I think it's best to also mention that aside from posting links to my posts on Facebook, Twitter and a few other social media sites, I hardly build backlinks and tend to focus all my time on creating content instead. That said, my backlink portfolio isn't that diverse or large for that matter. There's a few income links from Pintrest and a few forums, but there's not a lot of links pointing back to my site at this point (still kind of new).
Could anybody give me some insight here? Thanks.
Cheers, Laurence.
