Just want to know which of these two techniques Article and Directory Submissions are Dead?
#search engine optimization #article #dead #directory #submissions
  • Depends who you ask.

Directory Submissions aren't dead per say. You just need to focus on acquiring links from the high-quality ones. If you see a service that provides 1,000 directory submissions for $10 you can safely ignore those. However, there are still really high-quality websites out there that include directories. Although sometimes these are hybrid directories that also blog and offer other services.

Articles submissions - In my opinion your time is better spent submitting guest posts to authority blogs.
  • Article marketing and directory submission are Not dead at all. It's just that the way they were done is not effective anymore. In past it used to be totally about quantity, and now it's about quality. So only focus on high quality one's. Oh and btw, I also recommend you to go for Guest Posting instead of article marketing. It's a total waste of time when compared with guest posting. Hope this helps!
  • They are not going to impact positively on your ranking
if the sites are not reputable and regulated, i guess you
    know what i mean.
  • Both article and directory submission are in live status. Submit you content in high PR sites which has high domain authority to get traffic. Directory submission - submit url in high PR sites, it will take for 2 to 3 weeks to get reflected.
  • They're still effective and working, all you've to do is focus on quality rather than quantity.
  • article and directory are still work, but we have to post in good page rank website.

  • They can never be dad....as it is the best source for getting backlinks...but yes now you have to take care of quality content and submit the links on High PR sites...
  • I think both are working but only if they are doing in a right way.

There are some very good paid web directories where you have to pay like $60 for 1 permanent link, make sure to first check the category where your link will end up on. A PR5 or PR6 domain with a big natural back link profile and only about 100-200 listings is a pretty good buy for that amount. Especially if it's relevant to your niche.

But like I said, first check the PR of the page where your link will end up on and the number of OBL, PR3 or PR4 and max 10-20 OBL is pretty nice.

Article submission is pretty dead, I only use the top 5 sites myself, like Ezines, GoArticles, ArticleBase and a few others that I don't remember right now.

Some other strong web directories are Dmoz and Yahoo, but again, check the page where your link will end up on. Makes no sense to share a PR1 page with 200 other sites for that effort/money that it costs.

  • For me article and directory submission sites still counts for SEO or getting backlinks. There are still a lot of high quality article submission sites. Try to just choose the ones that are established and have high PR.
  • article and directory submission works..just see to it that the website should be having PR more than 5..
  • Both of them are not dead. They are just not very effective on their own, but still contribute to your seo.

Thus you should still submit to them, but just do it once through and do it good, and you're done for both of them.
  • How can anything which generates GENUINE links be bad?

On the other hand, if you mean the cookie-cutter, spun articles - has that EVER been good?
Nah. The best you could hope from those is conquering low-competition keywords (which is fine for some applications), but hardly ever could you do anything more.

  • I'm not sure if you are referring to the specific act of article marketing. However, I believe it to be a form of advertising that brings your brand or website to a very large group and you only benefit from that recognition. through the exposure that you will get.as the author. The results will be seen in the traffic, new leads, and ultimately sales when done properly.

It's one of the best lessons I've learned and I write about it in my blog.

  • I still create relevant useful articles to my niche websites and post them in article directories. I notice small positive changes in the search results but notice even bigger ranking increases when I incorporate multiple links from social media, blogs, forums, Press Releases etc.

I think relevant directories are useful but time consuming to manually submit to.
  • Google Panda and Penguin updates are the worst nightmares for a lot of webmasters. It has left us all confused with what it is that Google wants from a website. One of those confusion is;

“Does Google Panda and Penguin updates have a huge impact over the effectiveness of article directories?”

Most of the experts think that Google Panda and Penguin were targeting lots of factors including link farms, but there is a huge difference between article directories and link farms. Article directories can help in developing high quality backlinks for a website and it is among the biggest aspects of SEO.
  • anything can have a bad effect if you overdo it.. do5000 free submissions and yes it will have bad effect. do a mix of backlinks: contextual, profile, comments, submissions in the right dose, and your offpage seo is good to go.

  • Nothing is Dead. In SEO, everything has benefits, unless you do it properly. There are a few article sites which gives your keywords maximum benefits and also helps you get some ranking in Google. About Directories, try to go niche related directories. Those will be helpful.
