Really interesting case!

Hi,

I'm working on a project, and I came across an interesting case.

What is it... Website www . belstonecapital . com is high on the first page of Google for a keyword "Capital Raising".

The question is why?

The only good things I see is the age of the domain (3 years - which is not that good) and 2-3 good links from the newspaper site.

The site has almost no backlinks. Also, DA and PA are relatively small.

It has page rank 5, but the software shows me that it is a fake PR.

He gets redirection from www . polifinance . com with 302. That site has some good links. But as far as I know 302 redirect code do not give link juice.

So, again...Why is he so high in SERP?

For me this is a really interesting case.

Take care,
M.

I think this is the actual keyword they're targeting (Private Capital Raising).

I didn't look at any backlinks...
  • Yes..I think the same...But #3 or #4 on SERP with that DA and backlinks?
  • It's a keyword with little to no commercial value. Gets 200 searches a month. People are only bidding $2-3 a click in AdWords.

    There is no competition.
  • Perhaps there was a 301 in place and it was changed thereafter! The juice has clearly transferred to the new domain!

I wouldn't bother much with this though because the KW is weak! Many sites rank for weak terms based only on authority.

    • How I can check this?

I agree..But there are some sites with much more backlinks and good DA and they are below in SERP. This site has few backlinks (without 302 or 301 though)

  • The term is weak so it may actually stay where it is if the on-page is better than the other sites.

    Check this site out: solarpanelmanufacturing.info

It is a PR5 with no links! There was in all liklihood a 301 redirect that has now been removed but the domain is still showing the PR5. Even if you do an "info:" search this domain still comes up. This is how many people get tricked into buying fake PR domains!
  • Interesting...

Do you know why when I look at "info:www.belstonecapital.com" I see "polifinance.com" below site title?
  • It looks like there was an original redirect (301) from belstonecapital.com to polifinance.com and this is why the domain is still carrying the PR of polifinance (and also why polifinance shows up when you do the info search), but thereafter a 302 redirect was implemented from polifinance.com to belstonecapital.com.

The algo hasn't caught up with all the changes yet!
  • But polifinance had stronger backlinks than belstone...and better DA

    • If I take any PR0 domain and redirect it to say Facebook... that domain will become a PR10 which is FB's PR. That's a little trick that dodgy domain sellers use!
