New to directories

I recently purchased a couple of directory sites.
One page ranks 3 and the other 2 and averages 7K and 6K page views per week.

I have adsense running on it, but that brings in just a dollar or two a week.

I'm new to this. Can someone give me advice on what, if at all, I could do to increase revenue.

    Hi,

    If you have that many views, you should be making more than a few dollars a week. Focus on the design and ad placement would be the first things to address.

      I Agree with this one answer, Good place of running ads on the website increase chances of clicks on it.

        You could use analytics to see what type of views you're getting, because if you're getting as many visitors as you said you were, you should have a higher revenue than just a couple of dollars. Be an affiliate of other sites and place their ads and banners appropriately on you site so that visitors can easily see them, click through them, and perhaps make a purchase.

            Hi,

            I just developed a directory too Directory, not done yet. In my opinion, we must build strong and High Authority and make the paid listing and then we can make money. If we use ppc like adsense , it will take long time to earn money, since the most visitor were coming for submit their sites (client's site).

    That could be, does analytics tell you where your visitors are coming from? Doesn't seem your site is ranking for much if any keywords in organic search so visitors are either automated or coming from links. You have a good Alexa rank though, nearly identical for both! What are the odds of that.

    From what I can see there is only one adsense link on the far right of the screen. I would suggest either placing it within a header or under the header before content starts or more towards the left hand screen.

    Other tips - I would suggest a look at redesigning your logo making it more appealing. Having your site set to full width is not so good either, I have a large screen and it leaves a lot of white space in between which is not so pleasing to look at let alone use as everything is so spread out.

      I'm not even sure how to make changes to my site. WordPress is not a problem but this format is beyond my comprehension. Any idea where I could find a tutorial that would cover the version I'm running?

    6-7k page views in week is awesome. perhaps your site is promoted well. I believe you need to check the design of your site. The placement of your ads. Make an experiment to some pages and see which is the most effective..

    For a directory site it's pretty tough to get Click, you know what i mean I'm talking about CPC. The adsense ads are usually made for it, why don't you try Clicksor,Clickbank something. Banner ads would be helpful for directory sites.
