Keyword Rich Domain & SEPRS

I'm having this debate with my team and someone i trust at who is ex-Google.

What are your thoughts..?

Keyword rich domain names used to work great. But the feeling is of late from my developer (post Panda/Penguin update) they are getting penalised in SEPRS.

    The fact that website owners were using EMD’s was not the target of the recent update that wiped many of them off the SERP’s but rather those owners were doing a variety of other things that got them demoted and they happened to be using EMD’s as a part of their strategy. Google (or any other search engine for that matter) really doesn’t care what URL you use as long as you have quality content and you don’t appear to be deceptive in your practices.
    All that being said, if you have any new info from your ex-Google contact, it would be neat to hear it.

    Just low quality keyword rich domains get penalized. If you have keyword rich domain with great quality content.

    Yes,we can find many EMD websites in still ranking.Websites which were created only for ranking purpose and were not serving any quality to its visitors had penalized only.Its better to focus on improving website UX and other related thing so visitors like website and promote it to their friends.

    All are depend on the quality and related of the content , because in the previous lot of people trying to use exact match domain to rank their site with poor quality , no fresh content update and not much related. Those site been punished badly , but if the site is related and quality , they still enjoy the EMD benefit and rank pretty well.
