Hey guys,

I'm really confused by this. How do SEO agencies charge? how can one agency say it will cost £500 per month for SEO and another one say it will cost £600

What I'm asking is does anyone actually know how to put together a reasonable explainable quotation for a SEO job without just sticking their finger in the air?

Whats the method for quotation? any help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance

    Quotes are based on requirements

All depends on competition of the site aswell.

If the market is insurance, then depending what type of insurance, quotes will range min from £1,000 + all the way up to £5,000 and more especially for personal injury lawyers etc.

Previous prospect was selling LED light bulb but was paying his current SEO only £150, no wonder his site was no where. I created a video review telling him he needs to be spending at least £400. I'm not gonna sign him up unless he has the budget.

Very hard for you to know if you're being fed porkies so you need a reference point from those that already sell SEO and the results achieved.

Bear in mind the % to be reinvested back into the clients so, so eg for that LED bulbs client, I'd charge £400 but my margins are 50% with the remaining back into the clients site.

Find out what their profit margins are then it should give you an indication how they work.

    Hey Sunny,

I think the reason you're confused is because there's no set answer to your question.

Some companies base their rates on how much time and cost will be incurred.

Some base them on how much they think the customer can afford.

Some charge based on the perceived value of the results of their work.

So while one guy working from his basement in India using automation tools may charge $50 for something, an offline business with an office, employees etc. may charge $500 for the same thing. Another company may just position themselves as experts, have excellent documentation and reporting and offer 24/7 telephone support to their clients and weekly conference calls and staff training to help their marketing department in creating a strategic content creation plan to leverage their efforts when applying the content and branding to their online presence.

As an SEO Agency, everything you do for a client has a cost so it depends on what the client needs. There are content costs, link building and PR costs, the cost of time, on-page optimization costs, research, and more.

All of the things above will be determined by the current state of the client's website, keywords and positioning, branding, and competition in Google.

You can pretty much rank anybody on the first page of Google for any keyword, it's just a matter of strategy and resources and when you've done it enough times, you'll know what it's going to cost.

      Hi there sunny,

as what andy has said, there is no fix answer that is why u are confused.

Its like how much should i pay for a pair of shoes.

There's Nike, adiddas, asics and there are normal brandless shoes at $10.

Asics can go up to $300+.

So how do they price it.

      1. Establishment of Brand
      2. Quality of service/product
      3. How well they market it.
