  • YouTube is a pretty strong traffic source. Especially if you can rank them within the Google search results. I target a ton of long tail keywords using YT videos and most of them consistently convert.
  • Not only is it a good traffic source, it also delivers some of the best 'quality' traffic in terms of bounce rate, time on site & conversion.

I've just spent the last 2 days reauthoring all my videos and still another day on optimising the user experience on YouTube further.

Totally worth it! Even if i'm going to lose all my existing views/ratings/comments

    • Are those stats about your daily visits? Because I find it hard to reach more than 250 visitors per day from youtube... I had never got more than this? That's why I am asking you
  • The worlds 2nd biggest search engine is NOT bing.

    It's Youtube.

And it's super easy to get to page one of a youtube search. You just need the right view/like ratio. This explains how to do youtube seo http://sparkah.com/guerrilla-marketi...-sales-by-351/

    • I have a few videos on youtube and rarely get viewed. I put the normal keywords pertaining to my subject. I know almost nothing about how to get the videos placed in search results, so I would guess that is a fairly important detail to learn.
      any suggestions are appreciated

  • Jimgk,

I would say Youtube is still a very powerful traffic referrer for websites. That being said, you have to make good videos in order to entice people to click through to your website. If someone doesn’t like a video in the first few seconds, they definitely aren’t going to check out your website. I would focus on making top notch video content and then see how that impacts your traffic.

  • Google loves Youtube and Youtube is very popular. Just make sure you place your link so many people can see it.

    • Because it is product of Google thats why it loves..

However, I don't get good conversion rate with video marketing so I prefer to use other methods of getting traffic to my sites.
    • That's because Google owns Youtube
  • People are watching videos to waste time mostly. Most of them will NOT convert unless you really have a long-tail video that warms them up first.

    • Ha ha...and you know this how?

YouTube is a great marketing tool but likle another poster said, focus on making good videos....just puttting up a bunch of not so good vids may be good for getting some backlinks, but not for driving traffic.

      YMMV,

      Mike

    • Which is exactly the point. I'd much rather have (and do have) long tails that convert at 10% or higher, instead of videos that get more views, but barely convert at 1-2%.
  • Let me elaborate, Google loves those contents which directly coming from their own company sites, so you can blindly trust YouTube and definitely if you upload a good and catchy video you 'll get millions of traffic for ever you experienced.
  • YouTube can be very strong with bringing in traffic. Sometimes when I am searching a specific keyword, I am surprised to see my video content on page one -- which in turn sends more visitors to my websites.
  • YouTube is great for traffic, because it isn't hard at all to get ranked well compared to normal Google results, and the traffic you receive usually is super targeted if you've ranked it properly. The amount of targeted traffic you can get for how much it costs is pretty amazing IMO...and you can also earn extra from adsense on your videos which is a plus.
  • Youtube video is useful, concentrate on adding videos on a daily basis, you will be rewarded by building authority for your channel, this will increase your chance to be seen on google in the serps too.

    • watching this lady on youtube - she suggests subscribing to channels in my related industry and commenting in order to strengthen my our channel - any thoughts?? i'm in the real estate niche and with 3000 counties nationally, I could subscribe and comment to 2-3 realtor channels a day without doing so with any nearby to my serving area. I do see some very rude comments on some, guess that just must be expected and tolerated?
  • YouTube is the best traffic source for me better than google because you can start seeing traffic almost immediately here is a screenshot for one of my videos
  • Yes, youtube is amazing for traffic.

I get tons of traffic from it but I also have tons of videos targeting tons of long tail keywords.
It probably took me about 3 months to set up my funnel and I still have another 6 months before it will be finished.

In fact, youtube is a big part of the reason why I don't use PPC. I just don't see the point. Its free, and you get to have a large thumbnail displayed in the top 3 if you know what you're doing.

When you also consider that google adwords ranges from $30-$50 a click in my niche, youtube saves me a HUGE deal of money too. It would be a horrible decision not to use it.

BTW, one huge tip about youtube. I always microtest my videos on CL before I upload them to youtube (using thumbnails that look like videos and click over to youtube). And I will use one video to target about 20-30 different local keywords. Once I see that its converting that way I want it to. There is no point uploading rushed videos that don't convert.
  • Also, if you do choose to make a YouTube video, don't put all of your content in the video.

Make the viewer want to read more. Therefore bringing them to your site.
  • I can actually vouch for what daviddifranco is blabbing about there,

because being a geek and all I actually follow his videos.

But in the end it still depends on the "quality" of videos, you are producing.

  • youtube is at the moment very nice for the cpa marketing business. specially because you don't have to risk your own ass and your own website's but a youtube hosted video. you can blast it with links to rank it, if it fails or gets de-indexed well f#ck it and start over. If you do that to your website, you will get sandboxed and your site is as good as dead.

ps. don't know for how long this will stay alive tho.. its becoming more and more massive in the blackhat world at the moment to rank videos and i think they will fix it soon.

I can tell you that youtube alone drive me thousands of visitors a day with 100+ videos uploaded.
  • If your videos are interesting and people can find what they are searching for, you can get high quality traffic from youtube. It is still a big traffic source and likely to remain for a very very long time.
  • Its a great source like others said, but be careful with automation and uploading hundreds of videos - you may get your channel banned
  • If you're videos are crap, then you're viewers will be too. It's common sense. If you want to attract viewers who can potentially turn into leads or sales then How To's and 10 Tips type videos work really well.
  • if you do youtube SEO or video seo and can rank them in Google they will do it for you.

  • youtube is very useful way to increase your serps. Proper video optimization and good content bring lot of visitors. To attract visitors, off page is to be done efficiently.

    • Yes, I believe Youtube videos are great traffic sources nowadays. Especially since currently, social media marketing and video marketing are great avenues for online site promotion and traffic generation. It's just that you need to create quality and catchy videos in order to get a lot of hits, as well as traffic to your website.
