Google slap, Possible cause?

Warriors,

I had a Direct linking Campaign running on google since last 7 months.

Total keywords 15
Adgroups 15
Vendor has Google friendly page, eg. privacy, About us. discailmer etc
my average ad position 1.2 to 1.8
Earlier quality score was 7 to 9
No trade mark bidding,




2 days i did not have traffic, today i investigated my QS is down to 1 on all the adgroups. Now i killed campaign, reloaded with different name, Same problem.


What is the possible reason? i am more concerned about it
How to overcome it?

    In Ads preview tool, i do not find any other advertiser advertising with same domain, So no one has hijacked my campaign

    Hi Amfire,

    What was your CTR? A low CTR will lower your Quality Score and that seems like the most likely cause.

      What type of direct linking were you using? iFrame redirect (i.e. destination URL is your domain URL, but showing the vendor's landing page) or hardcore redirect (which is against the TOC of G)?

      With a life span of 7 months for a direct linking campaign with G, I would say that it is very likely that you have got G-slap, mate!

      Now is the time for you to build a proper landing page, mate..

        Normal direct linking. display url vendor, landing page Vendor.
        i also know its G slap, i want to understand why,

          Because G doesn't like D.L ppc. For that reason they simply knocked your campaign's QS from 7 to 1 and that is already enough for their QS robot to stop displaying your ads.

      CTR initially overall CTR 6%+, however current month is 3.75%

      You said that you have 15 keywords and 15 ad groups, are you using 1 keyword per ad group? You should be, and you should using exact or phrase match only.

      Each keyword has it's own individual CTR and you should be looking at them individually, not as a group. If your CTR is lower than your competitors, for the same keyword, this will lower your QS.

      You will end up with the exact same problem in the new account. You need to fix current problem. If the current problem is with the landing page you will need your own landing page or move on to another offer.

      It's not necessary to call Google, they have tools built right into your account that will tell you what is causing your problem, albeit in general terms. The Keyword Analysis Page is a good place to start and next try the Ads Diagnostic Tool.

        Yes, i have 15 keywords ad 15 adgroups, i am using 1keyword per adgroup. borad and phrase only.

        well all the keywords been reduced to QS 1, My CTR may be lower than my competitor. i do not have a way to know yes, its been declining slowly though

        Thanks. i will be building a landing page. and upload it back, Bad part its going to be almost a week off for the campaign, and again i need to bid high to get better CTR.

        Ok, i had already run through Ads diagnostic tool. will have look over other link.

        It's not necessary to call Google, they have tools built right into your account that will tell you what is causing your problem, albeit in general terms. The Keyword Analysis Page is a good place to start and next try the Ads Diagnostic Tool.

          Hi Amfire,

          If you are using broad and phrase match only, then that is your major problem. You should consider using exact match only.

          Using phrase match you need to be careful, don't use short phrases without extensive negative match keywords to prevent irrelevant matches. You should avoid broad match all together, as there is no need for it and the extended matching feature will kill your quality score.

            Thanks. i have a dirty looking landing page up now. my ads are showing now. need to see if it converts.
            If i am using Exact match only how do i come to know more profitable keywords?
            What CTR is good to be on safer side in near future on Search Network?

    If it is legal/allowed, make an exact copy of the landing page, buy a url, host it on Godaddy for $4/month. I did this with a DL campaign and took out a phone number to see how many sales I was loosing to phone orders. The company froze my aff account when they saw the page, so I'm not saying this is the best solution.

    Oh yeah, was loosing a lot of sales to phone orders I wasn't getting credit on - 100% conversion INCREASE with the number gone to be exact.
