Does "link wheel" really exist?

Hey guys! How are you?
This question is really irritating me from a long time,
actually since I got to it. I do SEO for a lot of my websites
and my clients, but I never thought about (or cared about)
creating any "Link Wheel". All of my websites rank well even without
any such kind of stuff.

Honestly speaking, I doubt, if anything like this really exist (I might be wrong).
I searched a lot of Google Webmaster Central Blog and didn't find any official
page about this. So, does "Link Wheel" actually exist or it's just a myth?

If it exists then please don't just say "Yes, it does exist". Please validate
your opinion with a reference from Google, Yahoo, Bing or an authority website.

My point is why to create a "Wheel" instead of creating simple backlinks?

Thanks

    Yes link wheels exist.

I doubt Google goes around promoting link wheels, or any other link building techniques.

Not sure why I get the feeling like were talking about Santa Claus?

    • if you google
      what is a link wheel
the information returned is detailed and accurate
      it does work, done correctly
done incorrectly, it will destroy (a) site(s)
  • Thanks for the input guys, but seriously, you people have really
missed my point. I had already mentioned in my thread which all
    of you might have missed.

I mean which search engine emphasizes on the importance of Link Wheel?
    Any particular reference?

And you are missing the point that no search engine is going to officially endorse a link wheel. But if you left it up to Google most of what we do for SEO would be a no-no. You said you are ranking without using it, maybe that's for the best
  • a link wheel is link scheme, all link schemes in google's eyes violate tos. link wheel effective now? i'm not too sure, it is a definite footprint and there are more evolved link schemes out anyway. link wheels were good, because in effect, you created your own eco system in which to pass link juice and build your properties to then eventually pass it on to your moneysite

  • Link wheels can be very effective. But how you do it is the trick. You want to leave the least amount of footpronts as you can. Here is an image I pulled of an older WSO. I agree with his method of building a good link wheel. Satellite blogs are the top tier in the link wheel.

Good link wheel combines all the popular and effective link building techniques, like: Article marketing, video marketing, RSS submissions, link wheels, blog commenting and social bookmarking and more, But be careful as how you use them. Google frowns on this method.

Link wheels are also backlinks, but if done correctly, they can add a little more weight to your links.

  • This is nonsense, there is no such thing as a link wheel.

Link wheels are an urban myth that started on blackhat forums in the 1960s after the Aardvark update.

  • When you are doing link wheel, please make sure that you are not leaving foot print..

Also, you have to use other methods of link building too so that your link profile would look natural.

  • linkwheels by nature of the internal spoke, are a footprint, that's why these link schemes have evolved past link wheels.

I use linkwheels on internal links to help get Google Sitelinks, so they're still useful, just depends how you set them up.
  • Yup, they exist and they barely work now. Don't waste your money on those.

    • Yes they do exist ... worked for me about a year back ... but I believe the rules have changed for now ...
  • Even I use it for my blogs to interlink as well as to link to my other blogs sometimes. It definitely adds value to your site.
  • Yes, link wheels do exist and at the same time they are effective too. A link wheel basically is a procedure in which you want to build a dozen or so new blogs/web pages using web 2.0 properties such as squidoo, blogger, hubpages and etc, this is extremely easy steps to get additional traffic and high quality backlinks.
  • Everyone is saying yes "Link Wheel" does exist but no one was able to post a link
which could support their opinion. Anyhow, it seems it doesn't work anymore.
    More ideas??
  • friend link wheel system works but if you know how to make it perfect?
and i prefer to Link Push system it is like link wheel but more advance than link wheel.
