Real letter from Google Places. Madness

So I run into these two guys on a random FB page and they are complaining about Google Places and how they can't get listed. Now these aren't crazy IM saavy SEO dudes; these are meat and potatoes small business owners (pressure washing) that can't get Google to throw them a bone. So of course I get into the middle of it (whaaaaaaat? :p)

One has been trying to get his business on Google places for almost a year now. Every time he calls support he gets outsourced reps, no answers, vague assurances, please do XYZ for the 4th time and yeah.. nothing. My first thought: power washing, he goes to his customers but no, he has a shop.

Anyways, he ends up forwarding me one of the response emails he is getting:

Hello Andy,

We understand how important Google Places is to your business. Unfortunately we can't accelerate the review process for your business because it's automated by our system monthly. Continue making updates to your account even if that means just going in and click submit even if you haven't made changes. (?????:confused

Poor, poor Andy clicks submit twice every morning after breakfast and talks to a different rep every afternoon who tells him to please keep clicking submit and then sends him a version of the email above. Every day. Just thought it was kind of crappy for the little guy...
